Dave, I know you know your stuff mate and can be a sceptic at times, but if the fella above you says he sees a lot of them about, surely, are they that bad?

They have the £140 offer on, I am just trying to make sure my mate gets a good deal that's all. I have already sent him in the direction of H4L but he doesn't know if he can stretch that far...

sceptic yes i had a bat of him CUSTOM MADE it was rubbish and not worth the 140 pound.

look at his returns he says he will get it back within 3 days it took 2 months for my bat to arrive.

He is a sacked employer from Greens...

Ask him to come on here then and explain himself...

I no sceptic here all based on experience mate the guy is a fool and ask the people who contacted him about willow as soon as you got talking and emailed him if you knew what you were saying he did not email back...

Your right iam hard to please mate but then again it is mine, yours moneies and you should be

Cheers Dave, I do appreciate your feedback, that's why I asked for some in the first place. I will show my mate this thread and he can make his own mind up, he's not stupid though so looks like I may have done him a favour here.

Sorry mate, who are Greens?

Am suprised at that chaps i was in the nets with a minor counties player last Sunday and he had SP bat gloves pads etc and it all looked nice kit. Though he did say he had not heard from the owner in a while and i am sure i heard the name julian or summit but i could be wrong!!! I also heard SP cricket had changed ownership a while back but don't quote me could all just be gossip!!!

customers are always right for too long in our country mate we accept (No Swearing Please) service

I think Mike Brimble has some dealing with him as well and was shafted by him

Title: Re: SP Cricket
Post by: Talisman on March 02, 2011, 02:16:35 AM
Yes, I bought a bag of kit from him, same address and he was called Simon then who had been working at Newbery until laid off by the CNC lathe!!!! He then claimed he had been given £50k to train as a bat maker from some award and set up in Devon, what a load of cr*p, I paid £110 for Bat, Bag, Gloves, Pads and a Thigh Pad, sent it all back as utter horror story, bat was cheap nasty Asian value circa £20 and pads and gloves terrible, bag had huge hole in it from wear..... I bought on ebay and had to fight to get my money back.

i think if i remember correctly they were pretty popular in perth when i was out there in 2006. obviously they could be made/owned by a franchise or something but i do remember one of the guys having a box of bats selling them on week and sending them back a few later. softs did look ok tho.

The reply I received. Must admit quick response.
He didn't really answer anything I asked though.

Hi Liam

Thank you for your enquiry. £140 is actually pretty much our standard price, we list at £240 rrp because players don't believe they can get a top grade cricket bat for £140. We only sell direct hence no retailers or distributors margin apply to our products.

Our bats are UK made, yes. We buy in our handles. As for pressing we have a system unique (I believe) to us.

Hope this helps.

Regards

David

whats unique about pressing a bat lol

Title: Re: SP Cricket
Post by: sgcricket on March 02, 2011, 08:57:51 AM
simmy, the pressing along with shaping i believe would be the most unique thing as the other raw materials involved in bat making would be the same.
Title: Re: SP Cricket
Post by: Simmy on March 02, 2011, 08:59:22 AM
y pressing???

everybody presses a bat by running it through a bat press.

so there is nothing  "unique System" about a bat press

maybe he puts it on floor and runs over it with a car wheel

Post by: Buzz on March 02, 2011, 09:02:13 AM
Don't tell me, pressed softer for extra performance (cough)

how about this unique press? check out the bat on it...

what a shame, I've got fond memories of SP (SP 'flat back' bat & those mitten style gloves we thought were sooo cool in the 80's), obviously this guy has just destroyed any goodwill the brand may have accrued...

Well today it's David but it's Anyones guess as to his true identity.

Another reply...

Hi Liam

Regarding pressing, all I will say is that in most cases a bow for instance is pressed into the blade, we don't do that. We believe our method is better for the wood and provides better rebound. I won't be drawn further!

You can have anything within reason, we won't for instance start putting grooves in the back of the bat but you can specify where you prefer most of the wood etc.

Regards

David

You need to report it to the police as it is criminal fraud to obtain funds with no intent to supply goods within a reasonable time. If you did order March reasonable time is well elapsed now. We had a problem with with a large cricket store who were two and a half months late and never answered e mails or phone calls as soon as we got the police involved a refund was made within days

That's bad news mate, I would do what Perry said and get the fuzz involved.

Ironically enough, my mate went ahead with his SP and it turned up 3 weeks later, it flies.

Yeah I foolishly ordered 6, 3 have turned up and are nice sticks. 3 are yet to arrive, been chasing every day but nobody is answering the phone. I think the fuzz may be the best option.

Alex Gow of SP Cricket contacted me at the start of the season with regards to sponsorship.
I managed to get the bat fairly quickly but waited on the pads, gloves for several weeks.
The bat was very nice but then the handle broke and I ended up speaking with Lance Ames who said send it back and they will put a new handle in it. That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't heard from them since despite calling and emailing frequently.
Not sure what to do.........

Who knows? I ordered and paid for shirts in Jan. Different names, different excuses,(including having a very I'll child in and out of Frenchay) all the usual crap. Going through small claims court. Initial notice perked "Lance" up a bit, but then nothing. Just served court enforcement notice. We'll see what happens.

Good luck King Pair and I would also contact the police as to obtain funds by deception as in your case with the bats and inability to complete the order I think constitutes theft.

I reported them to the government fraud organisation around 3 months ago but havent heard anything from them. Will see how the claim gets on before I contact the old bill
