Title: Making pick up light
Post by: BASANTIDE on March 03, 2011, 05:27:26 PM
Guys

I have a Kookaburra Kahuna bat that weighs 2.10. Its a bit heavy for me with regards to pick up. I ordered it online so didnt have a feel for the weight or pick up as I live in US where we dont have bunch of shops to go in.

To alleviate the problem I have two grips on ... the original kooka grip and puma grip on top of it ... They help for the pick up but the handle has become quite thick due to the two grips ...

So my question is, is there any other way to put some weight on top of the bat or handle itself? I was thinking about lead tape but wasnt sure where to put it? Like inside the grip etc ... Also with lead tape, its weight is 0.5 gms/inch, so i would need to put a lot of it ...

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated!

Willkommen zum die forum

De Villiers and Kallis both use tape at the top of their handles as a counter balance, to make the bat feel lighter

AB's handle

i think they use elastoplast, not lead tape

looking at the picture, I think it would be really light weight [compared to lead tape of .5 gm/inch] right?
or is it heavier?

Thanks

It is usually medical tape, I was looking at this bat from Martin Van Jaarlsveld for a copy the other night, it weighs 2.7 and a half with a single White grip.

I take it the stains suggest they are low friction socks?

Yes, I would just copy the Pro's if that is what you want, use medical tape.

So does this medical tape actually work? As i thought the tape was quite thin, what exactly does AB use anyone know?
