Title: Woodstock, warsop or saf?
Post by: coverpoint_pro on March 03, 2011, 10:18:04 PM
Hi, im new to the forum, i've been reading for a while and thought that its about time i got an account!

I just wanted people's opinions really on which make to go for

All three makes i have heard good things im just struggling as to which one to go with, bearing in mind i will be buying a full kit, with the top of the range bat!

Just struggling to choose, so anybody's advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

P.s- take it easy on me haha

Welcome to the forum mate. I have used Warsop and am knocking in my Woodstock but have never used a SAF. All pretty neat bats from what I hear. I think it will be down to the profile you are looking for and the price you want to pay for the bat.

I am not sure whether Warsop post bats overseas.

Welcome aboard mate, firstly, what budget do you have for the bat?

Ahh, don't worry im from the uk! I was just in aus playing some cricket!!

Well with woodstock, i have been offered a sponsorship, i thought i would apply, to see if i could get anything, and i can get the bespoke bat for £130 which isn't bad, i just haven't seen any reviews of them on the forum, so i don't know whether people don't like them, or whether there just to lazy to put  review up haha!

Ive tried a few Warsop and unlike most people i don't rate them at all so i certainly couldn't recommend one to you, as for the other 2 brands you mention i haven't tried them so unfortunately cant comment.

Thats a real toughy mate,

for the all round package i'd go saf, but all 3 have pros and cons, with better bats probably being warsop and saf, best softs being woodstock and saf, obviously thats my opinion and its not based on any real testing!

Cheers, i must admit i have had a few people say they aren't as good as people say, but then again, people rave about them, i suppose its just personal preference!

Out of those 3 I would go for SAF. Woodstock softs look good and their bats look okay, but there hasn't been many if any reviews of them on here so you don't know how good they'll be for the price.
Warsop bats are always good, but they do take a fair while to play in. I've found out first hand that their customer service isn't great.

Even though I haven't played with a SAF bat there are plenty of people on here who will vouch for them and the bats I've seen on this forum have been lovely.

I have to agree with Watsontotty about the Warsop. It feels very balanced but its not the most responsive bat. I can post the pictures of the Woodstock bat but to be honest I can't review them without playing a couple of games. I have no experience with the SAF bat. I would recommend Woodstock between Warsop and Woodstock.

Would you mind mate please?

I tend to find a lot of people jump on the Warsop bandwagon but haven't actually owned a one, i do know a few people that rate them but i would never recommend something i dint rate.

Warsop or SAF, they both have a passion for the game and making the very best kit. Woodstock is purely a money venture, I've dealt with the owner for 4/5 years and found him to be unhelpful with poor knowledge of cricket and customers.

Both Warsop and SAF will want to make you a quality bat and if they cannot do something will say as opposed to someone who will say yes to everything and tell you you have picked a beauty no matter you go for.

I'd go with saf over warsop.  A mate of mine has had three warsops split on him, handle to toe in the last two years. Looks like a pressing issue.

Mike, I don't know how the industry works so don't know how much knowledge Woodstock has of the cricket industry. My experience with them though was pretty good. Good service all round, quick communication, quality gear and most competitive price I could find. It was a sort of leap of faith and it paid off. This is not to say that the next guy will have the same experience.

I know the gear is all right and communication should be good as he has nothing else to do apart from Woodstock but there are many reasons behind my views. The facts of why he left Newbery and what he actual role there was have been lets say, overblown massively to be polite. I would say it is like a former office employee in a Audi dealership being asked to leave and setting up a dealership in town claiming he knows how to make an equal car based on his time in the business and just rebadging other cars to look like Audi's.

At least Warsop and SAF know how to make a car and build it themselves.

In which case you will find many friends here... I have a SAF which I love. But in the mean time, why limit yourself to just those three? the new Hell4Leather softs look stunning so do bear that in mind.

Cheers, I have had a look at the hell4leather equipment but it actually doesn't take my fancy! I like like plainish cricket equipment and the colours on the pads dont do it for me!

I think Mike could be using the old mechanic example...

Plenty of people can take a car apart, but only a few can put it back together again and get it working ;)

If you like quite plainish stuff the Redback softs are very nice, and excellent quality.  Top notch bats as well.

I already have 3 redback bats
And a set of pads and 2 gloves!

I know they are quality!

I just wanna try another make, curiosity is getting the better of me! Haha
