So as some of you guys might know I ordered Oblivion LE from Asad Bhai when he was visiting the factory but he didn't find any bat according to my specs so Asad Bhai at UziSports was kind enough to custom order the bat for me!
So below is the picture of my Oblivion LE cleft;
To be honest, I have never ever in my life have seen Gray Nicolls sending pictures of the clefts prior to the bat being made and Asad Bhai was top bloke when it came to this! I was delighted because as I said no other retailers provide such service and no one is willing to email or send me pictures and I have spoken to many actually!
So let me know what you guys think of it!
Cheers

Looks a nice cleft, mind me asking what your specs were? :)
Look forward to seeing the finished pics.. :)
-
How much is a custom made GN?
-
Espo, price will be with me tomorrow
Johon below 3e the specs;
Gray Nicolls Oblivion Limited Edition;
Weight: 2.8-2.9 lbs
Handle: Short Handle, Semi-Oval Handle
Grains: 12-15, Grains like the bat (link given below) would be ideal! Regardless the number of grains they should be evenly spaced and perfectly straight!
Edges: Anything close to 40 mm or above that.
Spine: Anything close to 70 mm or above that.
Profile: Big massive profile for its weight.
Additional Comments: Ultra Light Pickup and very good balance bat overall. Also make sure the bat is only English made no Indian made etc bat please and make sure it is not over-dried cleft.
-
CD,
Looks a nice wish list. What happens if the bat made does not meet your spec? Can/will you cancel the order?
-
Christ that's a fair ask for 2.8-2.9 CD for any Batmaker never mind the big boys at GN! Would be hard to push 40 and 70 without an extra drying process and some serious concaving. Be very interesting to see what comes back fella. Good luck with that one
-
Looks like a nice cleft!
Your certainly asking for a special bat with those specs!
-
d7bow, actually I have been waiting for this bat for more than a month now and they have my specs so I am sure that this bat will meet my requirements because it took GN a while to find my requirement specs so I think I will not be disappointed.
PW88, if it's +\- 2-3 mm even then I think it's fine but my primary aim was to get what they give to there pros so let's hope how it turns out.
-
Fingers crossed it ticks all the boxes, You have a nice collection building up.
-
Hopefully I will get the pictures on Wednesday and I will see how this meets my specs.
Thanks for the collection compliement :)
-
Geez CD by the time I finish reading one of your threads you've bought another bat!!
cleft looks excellent, cant wait to see the final product.
-
GN should sell a lot of these this year, price has gone up from £150 to £200 at Lords so why would you ever get a shop bat when you can get this service.
-
very nice, like the GN's ive seen this year!
-
very nice
i bet you cant wait for the finished article :)
-
how much are they charing you mate for gn custom?
-
That looks a top blade, CD your going to have loads of good bats, When will you get time to use them all?
-
Mike, agreed I hear a lot of people saying GN custom is not avialable etc etc but really Asad's service was good when he got clefts pictures.
Canners, I am sure no one can wait for there bats finished product. I have waited really long for this bat so I hope it turns out to be a beauty!
Simmy, not sure about the price yet, will find it out today.
Roca, ofcourse in summer season along one or two nets :D:D
Everyone : thank you very much for your kind words
-
Looks like this will be a beaut of a bat.
-
So the bat has FINALLY reached Asad! I must say I had waited more than 9 weeks for this bat and at times it was very frustrating and I had to vent out my frustration at poor Asad Bhai!!
Anyways, here are the pictures I got from Asad Bhai!! I haven't seen it personally yet!

-
Yup, looks lovely, whats weight is it?
EDIT - Ignore that I'm presuming it's between the 2.8-2.9 requested.
-
Sure is pretty!
-
Very nice, well worth the wait!
-
if its anything like my friends custon made GN the quality and the performance is amazing!
ive had a gn when i was young it was a plank.
after seeing the quality of my mates i have been very impressed
dave asked for Weight: 2.8-2.9 lbs
so if it is 2.8-2.9 that is one MASSIVE bat
-
Cheers guy it weighs around 2.8-2.9ish!
I'm not sure but credit must go to Asad for this as he sorted everything out for me!
The wait was ever lasting! Felt like ti had been years since I ordered it!!b
-

Thanks Rajesh Bhai!
This bat is the only bat I have bought in my life based on feel before buying, rest all of my bats were bought blindly.

Cheers Richard, yes it was same price as shop LE.
look forward to seeing what you'l be using and what will be appearing on the for sale topic :)
Thanks!
Hahaha no I don't like selling bats, for now I don't
any chance of pictures from the bottom lookingup to see the scalloping
Looks very nice
Asad Bhai has this bat, I can request him and will request him when I talk to him tonight.
-
By chance I was there when it turned up and it is very very nice. There is also a very good eve le that I had to force myself not to buy. Asad certainly gets top bats and plenty to choose from at the mo.
-
CD what kinda work do you do mate? A Laver Reserve and now a custom GN LE :o

Ohh thats great to hear!!
I'm quite excited and desperate now, mind telling how was the pick up and was it big?

LOL I am a 3rd year university student, you might not believe but I have never ever in my life have worked anywhere.
-
I'm impressed that the finished bat has more grains than it in cleft form, looks very very nice.
-
Pick up was good and a nice size. I usually use a 2lb 12oz bat so the lighter bats all ways feel a good pick up. I think you will be really pleased with it. I would buy it without question if it was the spec of bat I use

I don't know the proper terms but perhaps the wood coat was there and when they shave the face a bit it makes it cleaner.

Many thanks for your post, I certainly appreciate it! Am too excited that it becomes hard to control yourself, however bat was shipped today so lets hope it comes safely!
-
The grains don't change unless you cut an inch off the face, more likely your bat is not the same on as the cleft picture.

Ahh okay, doesn't really bother me as long it picks up well and perform well!
Apart from that I wanted big profile which I got so no worries at my end :D
-
I would say they look better than the ones in the cleft picture.
-
will agree with mike on that. finished bat looks better than the cleft.
-
Was shipped on Saturday [From UK] and arrived on Wednesday [In Canada\, quick service by Royal Mail!!
Haven't seen or held it yet! Mates saw it and they were saying it is biggest bat they have seen!
