Right i got some pads the other day and like them but the padding was to bulky so i decided to have a go at changing them
I have a proper tailoress doing the sticking on them the back have been cleared out and my own custom plasazote and padding added
Pictures will be done as soon as it finalized
-
thought you were getting lavers dave
-
Way to take 'custom' to the next level pro :) I hope they work out for you. Could set off a new trend
-
i have them there the ones i'am making customized..
well i have enough plaztazote through my old keeping pads i have plenty of terry towling and plenty of enthusiasm.
I did not like them the way they were so i have decided to make my own up.
Gonna make them fully washable
That is why i was a after a proper Knee locator but i think i have come up with another soloution
-
Oh my God!
-
what up..
-
just cant believe you're taking a new pair of pads apart!hope they work out for you.wonder if laver do pad refurbs, but what with postage exchange rate etc, prob not worth it!
-
It a area i think could be looked at
Some pads did the removable fielding pads but i thought they were to stiff and i have a idea of what i want.
Imagine say a company offering you a basic pad shape and then you get to make up the padding inside the different quality and different things all interchangeable and all at a different price to suit your needs..
Maybe i'am mad and i have other ideas about widening the arches as well to suit making custom pads is something i like the idea of.
How many of you have snap your canes to get what you want a few , you should not have to do that to get a pad that fits right for you.

I have a bit of trouble fitting pads even though im quite a standard height/weight etc... However strapping on pads can be ludicriously long sometimes and it really annoys me having to wear them loose or fit them in a different way... So it would be good to see companies offering a slightly tailored service for osmething like this.

agree mate there although the pads iam working on have not got this problem i have encountered it before and had to tailor my straps getting them cut to a good size and getting the velco re sawn on.
Pads have been over looked and i understand it is a ultra competitive market i just think more can be done
My pictures will be on here i would like to change the arch and so on but have not got the skill for that but internal padding and so on so pictures will be up.

Well i hope it works out well Dave, sounds like a fantastic idea as being a short ass myself i find all normal mens pads way too big and have to buy small mens which means only buying a top end pair of pads. And some of the disabled lads have extra large supportive shoes braces etc pads dont fit around them well so your idea of Frankensteining bits of bads together is a good one!!! Well done fella hoofing good idea!!!!
-
Keyser mate tell me more about your cricket work with disabled kids, sounds very rewarding...
-
I work for the Devon Cricket board as their disability cricket officer running coaching sessions and working with the disabled who have a variety of disabilities from from visual impairment to hearing impairment and physical to learning disabilities. Its nearly impossible to get a set of pads to fit properly on a guy or girl who wears a leg brace or has a disfigurement to their legs or feet etc and especially if they wear corrective shoes or leg braces while playing. As pads just wont fit over corrective shoes. And gloves are a nightmare especially for the guys with cerebral palsy, but hey they always play and never moan and give it their all!!!

I have some damien martin kookaburra diablos that I no longer use that i could donate
-
First phase of the pad's will be here tomorrow from the tailors.
The inner padding has been stripped back and replaced by reinforced Plataozote covered in terry towling. and the initial strip of padding covering as a sleeve.
Pictures to follow
