I'd like you to stand more upright in your stance as I'm sure it contributes to you falling over. You also tend to block yourself off from the legside shots. Not sure the exact reason, could be your trigger movement or your stance isn't open enough. Front foot movement might be why you favour driving balls you could be cutting (2:12), cutting is alot easier on our decks :-).

i think its possibly because even if ball is leg side i bring my front foot straight forward and play round my pad. maybe i should plant my front foot more to the left and hit next to it

I agree with UK, Stand up taller and open up a little. Just make sure your still aware of your off stump tho.  First thing to move is your head. If your already leaning over that will cause your head to go to off more. Trigger movement wise, I had a similar issue when i was younger. My coach at the time got a kwik cricket stump base put it on its edge just behind my back foot where it moved. As soon as i stepped to leg id kick it over. Gets annoying after a while kicking it over everyball. Not sure if its still the best method as this was about 10 years ago but worth a try. Worth doing it with a few gentle throw downs first. I know do a small backwards movement towards off and a small forward press. Seems to work ok for me. If you want a trigger movement you are better going back and accross towards off. May have to move your guard slightly towards leg but its what works for you.As long as your comfortable at the crease then thats the main thing.

I'm not a batting coach but I have had similar problems. I found opening the stance helps or having a back & across back foot trigger movement. Both tend to stop the front foot moving across to early.

We use to call it backing away and "the bag" was the preferred option. Stick the biggest kit bag you can find outside leg and watch the fun as batsman fall over the bag :-)

i havent had chance to watch all of the vid so the answer to this maybe in there but after the movement back towards/outside leg where does your weight go? do you always look to get forward?

maybe keep the stance square but use the back foot as your trigger movement, might help to make you more upright as well.

yeah pretty much i back away to leg side then i shift my weight forward. i like crouch and shift forward.

i never seen to be actually over the ball either flat with it or under it

Used to use a metal bucket. Every time the batsman moved backwards, he'd "kick the bucket" and make a lot of noise.

I think once that back leg movement is sorted and you stand up taller it may help quite a bit. Ive watched some more and see your pretty open already. As soon as that back leg moves out your then closing yourself off. Weight going forward isnt a bad thing. Especially with the wickets we generally play on and in the run up to the season. if your back foot stayed where it was in the stance and you played from there, you wouldnt cramp yourself for room so much and the leg side option would be alot easier. Must admit i do like tha bag idea, guess my coach at the time was going easy on me.

Before anyone else jumps in and dissects poor Simmy, he is a regular 500-600 league runs a season batter in Pontefract Div 1.Though as Liam said to me once at a net session, "you wouldn't know it"

would be nice to have a few more 500-600 runs a season batsman at my club. I think its more of a tweak than disection. As i said earlier, as long as your happy at the crease thats all the matters.
