Title: MY 2009 KIT
Post by: yvk3103 on December 22, 2008, 07:43:58 PM
Getting quite a few bats for 2009.

Presently, I have

1) Ca bat given by wasim. weight 2.0lb and 8 grains, 35mm edges and nice pick-up and balance. Needless to say ping is great.
2) SS Yuvi - pictures and review given earlier
3) Warsop Platinum - a true masterpiece from Tony. Great grains, big edges, superb pick-up and feel. Ping would put a trampoline to shame.

Bats on the way:
1) SS Yuvi - 2.9lb 8 graner
2) BAS Vampire (2 nos.) - 2.9/2.10 lb - one bat will have about 16-18 grains and will be half heartwood (many pros are asking for such bats now). The second bat will be a 10-12 graner with no heartwood. These should come to me by second week of Jan.
3) D&P UPP LE Pink edition (8 grainer)
4) D&P HPP (9 grainer). This will come fully knocked in (service usually provided to pros. the process involves - light oiling, knocking with ball mallet and nets at D&Ps facility by a pro/1st class player. Once knocked in the bat is refurbished and stickered).

WILL KEEP ONLY 4 BATS AND SELL THE REST. LOOK FOR MY OFFERS ON 3-4 BATS BY SECOND WEEK OF JAN 2009

Pads:
1) Warsop Spindrifts
2) BAS - similar to Morrant Ultralites (in post)

will sell one of the pads. Still to decide which ones.

Shoes:
1) Puma Ballistic - full/half spikes
2) Adidas F10/50 (footy shoes, but I use for training and fielding practice)

Protections:
1) Aero P1 strippers
2) Salix Pod 1 gloves
3) SS Ton Yuvi gloves

Can anyone help me posting the pictures of the above stuff.

Thank you.

Actually need to get rid of a few bats in 2009 rather than buy new kit. But there are a few 2008 acquisitions that will hopefully come out of storage for the ‘09 season. I guess like a few of you on this forum, I too suffer from over-zealous bat shopping and demand can never keep up with supply!
(Trying to put up pictures for the first time, so apologies if this doesn't work.)

Bats to Keep: 2 on the left are ‘08 match bats that are too good to retire so they will still be in use next year, despite some toe damage on both. The Newbery (Tendulkar profile labeled Uzi) and the Reebok will hopefully see some action in '09. The 2 BDMs might remain in storage I fear.

Bats to sell: Sommers 201 (never used because the middle is too high for me), AS V3 (mallet knocked+throw-downs), Vampire Blaster (fully knocked-in) and Blade Supremacy (2 matches). All top notch bats but I need to start somewhere! I will be posting the details of these bats in the “For sale” section. Its quite possible that a couple of bats from the “bats to keep” list above might also be for sale in a few months, as I am trying to really cut down on storage of great bats that never get used.

Pads - Morrant Ultralites (still going strong after 3 years). Will be posting 2008 Kook Sub-zero (used once) for sale

Gloves - 2008 G&M Original LE + 2008 Slaz Elite pro. Will be posting 2008 GN Powerbow Test (never used) for sale.

Title: Re: 2009 Kit
Post by: Str8bat on December 27, 2008, 01:35:30 AM
Thanks guys.
Arthur, The BDM is a pretty looking one indeed but feel and performance take priority and the Newbery and Reebok are quite sensational bats. Got the Newbery from Mike towards the end of last season and if the mallet rebound is anything to go by, this one will be a belter. The Reebok is also a very special one as it comes from a batch of bats that were prepared for a batsman currently playing (rather well!) in the Indian team.  The willow is extraordinarily light with superb ping, although aesthetically imperfect.  Along with the 2 match bats from last season, that makes it 4 gun bats for 1 season...way too many!! Hence the prolonged hibernation of the BDMs.

That's a huge shame, would advise you to look around locally see if anyone has bought your gear in a pub car park or whatever. I'll keep an eye out on Ebay for any sellers of similar equipment.

Hopefully it's all insured!

no the cops are taking a lot of initiative. They should be ashamed as my house is next to the police station. They will be reviewing the surveillance tapes to see if anything has been captured (their camera in the car park coves my back yard and the one on the entry gate covers a portion of my driveway).

Not sure id my Home and contents will cove this

Good, sounds like your mainly sorted. Although the inconvenience is frustrating.

I hope your gear turns up, i have a feeling most of it will be found as it's pretty individual kit rather than an iPod or whatever where there's millions bought and sold.

yes I hope so.

This years kit may be difficult to trace as I have not put my initials on them. But the last seasons kit had my initials on it (which just the bag, salix gloves and warsop pads).

Sorry to hear about Yash's kit nightmare!

I'm just in the middle of getting some new gear for myself at the moment I'm down to the attached picture.

Gloves
Puma Stealth - I'm down to these that someone has given me to net in as I'm through the palms in all mine.... another trip to the local cricket shop required.

Pads
Kookaburra - Ricky Ponting Kahuna which I love... they sure do make some nice pads

Bats :-

Graynicolls Powerbow - The best off the shelf bat I've ever owned.... its got a fantastic middle
Dynamite Dynamis - my weapon of choice for 09 once the wickets are dry

Thigh Pad - My old trusty Kookaburra which is being swapped for Aero Strippers P1 ....rang the shop today and was told they had run out of medium so waiting for them to restock

Helmet
Albion - Navy Blue.... not keen on it but it will do and its pretty lightweight

Boots
Graynicolls

So basically I have to do some serious shopping ahead of the season hope the credit card takes the strain  ::) :)

just read about your incident yash, sorry to hear it mate. it will probably be covered, i had my ipod stolen from college a few weeks back and it was covered under home insurance, so if it was locked in your car it should defiinately be covered- good luck anyway mate.
