With some if us having our first game this weekend what is everybody's personal targets : runs, wickets, catches, stumpings etc....
-
500 league runs would be nice. would like to be in the top 3 keepers for the season as well.but would sacrifice all that for a decent finish for the team.
-
At least a 50, no ducks and no dropped catches!
-
At least 700 Saturday league runs plus force minor county selectors to pick me by sheer weight of runs to break up the friends club
-
im aiming for 500 league runs, 10 catches and to finish in the top half of the league
-
1300 runs total for sat and sun leagues. top 3 finish for the club in both leagues and push for county development side selection
-
i'm aiming to play!! through non availability and injury!

if you need any bats looking after mate, i know of a good home ;)
-
Grand scheme sees me looking for 500 runs on Saturdays, 1000 runs on Sundays. Given that I may have to trundle in a bit on Saturdays this season as well, 10 wickets would be nice, with 20 wickets on Sundays.
-

i'll bear in mind, not keeping many for the reason i wont play much i think so they may stay with me :D
-
This is my first year playing club cricket properly as I was a late comer to the game. I played 2 club matches last year yielding 18 runs.
This year I am aiming for a 50 and also I am hoping to ave over 25. Also looking to hold down the keepers spot and do well behind the stumps. First game this sunday!
-
after a telling off.....
my new aim is 800 league runs at an average of 45......
-
50 wickets, 4 5fers, 150 runs. At least one score over 25. 10 catches would be nice, although I'm aware that most of the catching chances come off my bowling. Not to drop any catches as well.
-
to play more than 8 league games this year. 801 league runs at 50... (no point in going easy on yourself...)
-

That's a lot to ask for if you only end up playing 8 games Buzz ;)
-
Realistically: 800 league runs, 25 wickets and 10+ catches.
I'm hoping for a big fish season after dropping standard so we will see. I have my drive and focus thanks to a cocky junior who decided he didn't like the 'new guy' and bet me £50.00 he scores more rus than I do this season. He is still unaware I've come back to my old hunting ground, that he will be batting below me in the line up and that ive come from the top division! Silly boy. Still... I will be making sure he puts his hand in his pocket come September :)
-
big runs and wickets for school and club to force back into county set up
-

yes - especially if I make a 0...!!! Actually it is pretty hard work if I play all 16 games (which wont happen) 13 games is probably my best hope. I just need to play as well as last year (my best ever season... so not much to live up to after about 12 or 13 seasons of league cricket...)
-
No quantitave targets really. . .
Top of the agenda is promotion for my team
To play straight with a full face and be difficult to get out.
-

Nothing wrong with having a bit of pressure on you! I reckon I've got that from last season, take a few wickets and now I've got sheadloads of pressure on me!
-
1000 runs in the season and to win the league
-
1000 runs in the season and to win the league
Not asking for much then! :P
What standard is that at if you don't mind me asking?
-
That's alot if it's just Saturday league cricket mate I set mine at 700 and thought that would be decent but main aim is still the minor county
-

I thought you were already playing minor counties roco?
-
I'm hoping for 700 runs too roco. i got about 550 in 13 games last year, gone up 3 divs but should be playing 20-22 games this season
plus i have a bat with better 'ping' now ;)
-
700+ runs and 40+ wickets in the league
200+ runs in 20/20 and 10 wickets
200+ runs for league side and 10 wickets
And
Couple of hundred runs and a few wickets for county!
Oh and to give myself the best possible chance of county 2nd 11 selection!
-
Was in the squad plus trained but it's a friends club mate so hard to break in to permanently
-
To play a full season and not injur myself halfway through!
But really, I think realistically 300-400 league runs over 18 games as I've just started wearing glasses which will take some getting used to... but 20 wickets would be nice! Hopefully we will stay up aswell!
-
Ahh right I see. Our league side is similar to that set up. Funny really as now all the top league players refuse to play
-
play without this awful cough that I've had for 4 weeks. Get through the season without injury.
Modest I'm afraid.
Targets I find are subject to:-
Playing enough
Batting high enough in the order
Bowling enough overs
Therefore I just play for the team and the situation every time.
-
Well I outscored other batsmen who were picked but they are friends of the captain and coach so fair play to them but hopefully they have had a kick up the backside as they lost 6/6 last year and 5/6 year before because they pick friends not the best players as 4/5 players that should be in rather than the players they pick
But I am not bitter at all
-
Not asking for much then! :P
What standard is that at if you don't mind me asking?
Standard is not high as this will be my first proper season after completing my education. I have been training hard during the off season, which hopefully should pay off
-
Seeing as I am going to be playing a ridiculous amount of cricket this summer, barring any injury (touch wood!) -
I think I'll go low but will see how this pans out over the season.
1,000 Sat/Sun Runs - (lower cause I have no clue where I'm gonna be batting :( - like to bat 3, but you tend to get pushed around when you're my age :( ).
If I bowl a few overs, 10 wickets.
15 outfield catches
3 Run outs.
Then keeping, if I get to keep :)
10 Catches
10 Stumpings
Colts Games (9 max I think)
150 runs
5 wickets
2 catches.
Knowing me this won't happen! But I find it's more about keeping a cool head when I bat... :)
-
i want 600 runs on a saturday
about 400 on a sunday
and maybe 300 in 20/20 have to retire at 40
and id like to brake the 40 victims mark on a saturday in league cricket
-
I'm captaining for the first time this year, so personal targets go out of the window really
I want to finish at least mid table, have a good cup run & give our promising youngsters a good run in the side.

I always used the word "competitive" when captaining at lower levels. Result was less important as long as the youngsters developed and you were never smashed in any games - because that's no fun and turns people off cricket.
-
There's a lot of high targets floating around on here! 'Just the standard 1000 runs for the year ;) '

Set the bar high mate. No point walking out there with a negative attitude. If you do that you've already lost the battle :)
-
saturday hundred will do me....still eluding me after getting close a few times now!!!

targets and goals are useless unless they are realistic though! ;)

well i know of two fixtures you wont get one in ;)
-
Ooh are you laying a challenge down to the helmet man
-

Correct, which is why I didnt put 5000 runs, 10 hundreds, 50 wickets and 30 catches :)
-
Use this principle at work-
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Time- related
:)
-
And if you have problems such as injury or time away then make it SMARTER and add
Evaluate
Re-do
:D

Sorry I was only trying to help. I can only help but feel that come September the vast majority of these 'attainable' targets will be a mere fantasy.

Putting all that college work into good use Mr Buchanan ;)
-
Runs-Around 300 with one 50 hopefully
Wickets-Around 30 for the season inc 1 5er
Fielding-2 direct hits and 5 catches
-
Would like 650 league runs on sat plus 20 wkts and some blinders in the slips would be great
But ultimately I've joined a new club who play Div1 in the surrey championship so would like to get promoted to the Premier
Also would like to get into the league rep side again and possibly get a few games for Surrey 2's
No Sunday cricket this season, got a little one on the way !!!!!!
-
i prefer setting smaller goals, as in monthly goals, that way if your lagging behind one month it doesnt ruin the whole goal as you get a new one the month after, and it can be changed with how your doing, how much you'll play etc. just my personal choice but it makes for much better and more realistic goal setting i find.
-
First season over here and only playing 30 over cricket, will settle for
Over 200 runs including at least one 50
and
15 plus wickets
-
Depends how many games I play this year tbh, could play 40ish but not sure if I can be bothered to play much sunday stuff.
500+ league runs
More total runs than last year(1057)
20 wickets
90%+ catch percentage
-
40 plus wickets
300 runs
-
For us to totally obliterate Surrey. Not just a beating, a total annihilation, hopefully sending them home with there tails firmly in between there legs.
-
just to be more aggressive with the bat really - gone in to my shell over the last couple of years, to remember im playing limited overs cricket and play some shots, have some freedom and enjoy it! easier said than done, any tips?
no targets in the way of numbers, what will be will be!

Go out and just have a bloody good time
-
Score. A. Ton.
-
its the fear of getting out that gets me more than anything else, worthy of a topic in itself i feel, could be very interesting and useful!
-
Wack it up man!
-
Average mid 30+ with 4-5 match winning contributions
-
To try and hit the 500 run mark - been close last couple of seasons and having missed out on a ton last season after getting one the year before I'm after another this season.
-
4 Mini-Battenburgs in under a minute.

If you can ingest 3 full size Battenburgs in under a minute, you are clearly ill, or using more than one orifice!
-
i'd love to score my first hundred this year, but realistically, i want to average above 30, and score 600 runs
-

The image of that is pure filth Mr Cattus. One of them might have to be frozen! ; ]
-
50 wickets, as i got 47 last season, and at least 250 runs
-
My personal targets are to score my first 100, become a regular bowler again and not drop any catches.
However promotion and making my wednesday club run better and become a bigger club on a club level target.
-
Couldn't care less about how many wickets or runs I score. Just want to enjoy myself in the greatest sport in the world!
-

Nicely put sir :)
-
My targets are to have fun playing friendly cricket.
To finally get my first 5 wicket haul as an opening bowler after being denied it on 3 occasions due to poor glove work on ALL three occasions :( >:(. (this forced me to buy my own wicket keeping gear and wicket keeping in some games as well :))
Get my economy under 2 runs an over from 2.7 and my wicket taking average to about 8.50 from 9.80 and hopefully go past the 30 wickets mark this season
I would also like to get my first 50 but thats going to be difficult as i usually bat lower down the order to ensure everyone has a fair game :) as a result my highest score has been 23 not out :( so ieither get a 50 or improve my best score.
I open bowling for the odd league team throughout the season to gague my performance against the coached batsmen and bowlers :D
O and get more people to buy Kookaburra kit because it is MEGA Schwaaaaay! :D
-
800 league runs 40 victims
would settle for 500 though
-
No ducks
-

200+ runs for league side and 10 wickets
And
Couple of hundred runs and a few wickets for county!

Is that for Padiham 2nd eleven....
No mate good luck i wish you well and just make sure you hammer Earby
-
Well after my score of 1 on saturday, and a score of 2 last week it won't be long before im in the seconds ha! ;)
We shall try bud! Looks like its gonna be a really tight league this year, everyone is capable of beating each other!
-
I think Earby with my mate Ali could win it's a better league than people think
Balick pro is that saeed anwar junior
-
How many games are in a season for you guys in the UK???
-
Ali is class, always enjoyed training with him and kash!
Saeed was just sub proing for barlick, there pro is jaffir nazir, supposed to be pretty sharp! Took 98 wickets last year i think.
Yeh the league standard is really high this year, some really strong amateurs come into the league and good pro's!
-
0 for me!
