Title: A new bat on a budget.
Post by: ProWannabe88 on April 12, 2011, 10:29:51 AM
Hello everyone, I just wanted to hear peoples thoughts on buying with a budget.
I'm considering another bat purchase but rather than spend big moola I was thinking about a budget of £180.00 and no more! Where have you been for a bat or where would you go on a limited budget and why?

I've got a solitaire and performance wise it absolutely flies considering the price of it. It may not be the best finished bat or weighted bat in the world but I can't fault the performance of it. Definately worth the money.

Thinking about it, for me if I had that budget. I would like to try a GM, you could find a very nice 808 or something for about £150. As I haven't had an 'off-the-shelf' bat for a while now I would like to try one if I had the money.

I don't consider £180 a limited budget - for that sort of money you could get virtually anything other than a top range "branded" bat.

£80 is a limited budget - and for that money I would go to AJ sports in Wimbledon and pic up one of their Pakistani made bats for cash. In fact this is what I did for 3 years before picking up my bat from Andy SAF.

I just thought £180 is quite a high budget but I never thought after having £200+ bats,
Reducing my budget to £135 and I'd want grade 1. Don't care who or where it may come from either as long as it will perform decent. I want to compare it to my 'premium priced' bats and see if all that money was actually worth saving up :)

Probably not going to be popular but the Woodworm g1 is £150 and have heard some very good things about it and the company who now owns them

Try a solitaire, if it comes out a bit heavier you could get some weight taken off for free by Roger

I'm looking for a new bat mate, something I'd not usually Consider buying as I want to see just what my money has paid for :) I may be tempted
To go Sub continent style. That would be something miles different to my usual preference of a traditional profile

I can do a top of the range Indian bat for £135. You can get brand new quality for that sort of money.

H4L Hattori - £180 - you wanted an Asian profile that goes like the clappers, then here is your chance.

That is all

Budget was reduced earlier guys. I've been on the phone with Mr raje from raje sports in dewsbury. The conversation was worth. The money alone. I forgot just how friendly and good humoured he was. This is pretty much exactly what he said

" you want a good bat boss, you come here, dont you mess about with all that top brand or expensive rubbish, you see mr raje and i will get you a top bat.
For £100 mr liam youll have a boundary breaker, don't worry about it, I promise Indian bats are good, well mine are"

I practically laughed the money into his pocket over the phone

So you've ignored the advice in this thread and opted to be sold a bat you know nothing of by a chap who seems to be a very good salesman?

It's nothing short of a brave decision...

Thinking about this from another perspective, maybe you want to buy a rubbish bat to make it feel as though the bats you bought for a higher price were worth it :]

How about a SAF Premier Willow £190 but think the offer of 10% is applying.

Good bats too

Have you met Raje or seen his bats? Think before you speak (or type) in future.

Jon, I've been to raje sports plenty in the past but I've not spoken to the man himself until today, he sells premium gear as well as Asian and his own brand. He has a very good reputation round these parts and is known and used for his quality in the highest quality leagues in the north of England. I'm not one for throwing pennies to the drain, I was simply commenting on the phone call and what was said was said in good humour rather than a sales pitch. The funny side to things was his comedy accent that he actually doesn't have when speaking normally. I'm not a mug, please don't make me Out to be one based on a light hearted post

Met him twice and he's a lovely bloke. Memory serves me right he brought Crown Bats and he also knows Rob Pack, Tim Keeley. His bats are good value for money and good quality. He's got pretty high standards, last time I was there he was busy rejecting Dukes and Readers balls lol!
