I just wanted to take a moment to introduce people who are interested in bespoke / custom made bats to www.fatbats.co.uk - it is a small family compnay producing Grade 1 willow cricket bats, but the first few months have been very successful and feedback excellent. Do get in touch if you want to know more. We can also have visitors to the workshop in South Wales if you want to choose your own piece of wood before it gets made into your bat.
Thanks.

Oh god where to begin.
-
Monmouth??
-
Do you pay sponsorship to this forum?
-
Good to see another company starting up - best of luck to you. I like the names of the bats you've decided upon, something a little bit different!
By the way, having read the website, can I ask why you wouldnt offer a re-handling service?
-
Sorry, I dont know about paying sponsorship, I was hoping to find out how we do actually become involved as a one of the sponsored bat makers. Sorry if I have done anything wrong. We are based just outside of Chepstow rather than Monmouth.

Give them a break. It's not like they're shoving it in your face, they've just put their name out there. Breathe, it's not the end of the world.
-
really like the shape of your bats, and the names are unique as well :)
wish you the best
-
Contact Leo to pay sponsorship fees :)
Bats look nice, interested to see what they Mayhem looks like
-
It's worth contacting the admin team here and they will be happy to point you in the direction of becoming a sponsor. The problem at the moment is you are advertising here effectively for free when others have to pay to do so which might not be taken well as you can probably understand.
-
I like them as well Mike they look nice indeed
Good luck mate
Wish i had the talent
I would go for the rumpus
-
Had a look last week, as I joined the facebook page. The bats look really nice, personally not a massive fan of the stickers but then again I'm quite picky when it comes to them!
-
Not far from me :)
-
Would be nice to see some pictures of the bats you've made
-
Not far from me :)
me too

Yes, sorry I do understand. I will get in touch with Leo about advertising. I was just coming on to have a little feel about really and get some initial thoughts. Th pics on the webiste are photographs of ones that we have made. The Mayhem is actaully not out yet as we have not decided on the shape and may not release until next year as it really depends on how things go. Its just me (sorry I am a female actually!), my husband selling, and my father in law making - and we all do proper jobs as well so this is really just the start. Hope I did not offend anyone with trying to advertise, just looking for feedback at this stage really.
Roco and 100 not out - where abouts are you both based?
-
so who is the batmaker you or your husband???
-
her father in law, doesnt hurt to read

It isn't a problem now you realise, it is pretty inexpensive to advertise here and gives you an audience of pretty well informed cricketers.
-
Sorry RP blonde moment.
May i ask a question as your here do you press or shape your bats...
-
Newtown mid Wales

Yes, becoming a sponsor does seeem like a good idea if we are properly going to get out there, just about to email Leo now.
Yes, my father in law is the bat maker, and then my husband sells as he works for the ECB and also first team captain as Keynsham so has good contacts. I am just helping out really, trying to get us a bit noticed - and as on school holidays have a little more time to spare! :)
We have the bats pressed where we buy the bats from - so we have them as the clefts and then do the handcrafting process from there.. That way we know they are properly pressed. They come from down in Sussex, and the boys go down there and hand pick the wood.
-
Just to say I have emailed LEO about sponsorship now so thank you for the tip off everyone. Please do get in touch if you have any more questions about the bats or the service though ;)
-
Welcome to the forum, am i right in saying one of the first ladies to be involved, best of luck with fatbats!! sounds good.
and keynsham is not far from me! Nice to see the south west doing yet more :D
-
Yes, I do feel a little bit as a woman I should maybe not be here! But I have been involved in cricket quite a long time too as both my dad and brothers play, my dad is also the chairman at Keynsham so all in all I get pretty caught up in all of it!
The southwest is a good place for cricket and you are right peplow, a shortage of local bat makers - there are some around I know but not as many as in other areas.
Where abouts in the south west are you based?
-
Well I'll be the miserable sod and point out that sanding a bat made for you is a bit different to making bats, the boys in Sussex will be doing the making from the sound of it. Nothing wrong with having them done that way, many many do but it means TP Willow is a brand, not bat makers.
-
i am based in bradley stoke so not too far!!
In fact next monday i am playing footie against keynsham first team last game of season :D!
No there are few around however we are lucky enough to have ayrtek around as well :D!
-
Sorry Talisman, I guess that is my fault using the wrong terms. It actually says on the website that its handcrafted rather than handmade.
Bradley Stoke is not far at all from Keynsham - we have no connection to the football though but best of luck in that!
-
Unfortunately the smell of chocolate will no longer be present in Keynsham :(

Yeah it's a shame. Our home ground is at frys, for how long I don't know.
Welcome to the forum 'fat bats'.

Lol i know you dont just sprung into my mind :D
Colesy - yup shame! But some nice fields around there!
-
I did actually grow up in Keynsham and very sad to see Cadbury's go to be honest. Good luck in the football though!
-
Home of the semi mythical and much missed CBC.
-
Our saturday lot are playing keynsham on sunday 24th but im already down to play for our my regular Sunday team....know a few lads over at Keynsham as weve played against them for a while now.
Cant say i miss the smell of chocolate when playing there as got a bit sickly after a while!
-
Is it me or do some of the forum members on here need to learn some manners or are they the forum police or something, they fairly new on here but act like they own the forum how sad.

Presumably this is the cadburys of Roald Dahl fame.
-
Welcome to the forum Mrs Fat Bats - hope things go well for you. You have certainly come to the right place. You are in the presence of a ridiculously vast amount of knowledge in this area, some of the chaps on here will give you some sound advice

Na, we've got enough makers and memebers now, don't want any new ones...
-

I second that thought!
-
Well I did hope I had come to the right place, certainly lots of knowledge here by the sounds of things! I guess there are always going to be new companies setting up and plenty of members talking about things...we are just starting small and trying to do something for my father in law helping him set up the business he always dreamed of doing but the building trade always got in the way!
Who do you play for Ayrtek? What of the chances of you knowing my husband Gary? Our surname is Worgan - he was 2nd team captian last year, 1st team captain this year - the joys of being a cricket widow!
-
I play for Bristol YMCA on a Saturday and Filton Wayfarers on a sunday...used to play tennis with Simon knowles and mates from school went to uni with Mark Raisbeck as well (not sure if hes still there??)
Gary is more likely to know dad if anyone of the Milsoms but me and my brother have all played as well over the years against ur lot.
-
Only a few miles from me by the sounds of it. Could pop and have a look and give you all some feedback :D
-
I wondered who would be the first to pick up on 'manners' when in a lady's presence - Watsontotty, you chivalrous old dog!
Harry - a very close second :)

He has a very valid point.....with regard to certain individuals, perhaps hung up on their own importance, acting like forum moderators....should leave that to the chosen few ;)

I hold some common values bud and was brought up to live life in that way especialy around women although i try and treat people in the same way i expect to be treated. All new members in my opinion should be welcomed as they have much to offer the whole audience out there especialy if they are as knowledgeable as me jest !
-
Yep, I also went to school with Simon (he was the year above me). Mark Raisbeck is not at the club anymore. I will mention the name Milsoms to Gary and see if he knows your Dad. I have been up to YMCA previously - we know Mike Smith (is that correct??)
Its alright anyway Gents, no need to change your comments for the lady in the room! ;) Its nice that many of you have been very welcoming this evening though so thank you.
Charlie - where abouts are you based? Do you mean pop to Keynsham or to the workshop in Chepstow - or have I got the wrong end of the stick here?
