Lisa Worgan April 14 at 4:04am Report
Hi Nitin
I hope you are well. I wondered if you had any thoughts - it seems we have been banned from trhe cricket forum! Its says we made false claims and advertising, but I have no idea why! I had emailed the administrator about sponsorship on there. No clue what is going on??
Best wishes
Lisa
Any one having an idea as to whats happened to them?
-
Seems a bit harsh.
-
Seems very harsh as they were enquiring about sponsorship but I'm sure it will get sorted out
-
definitely seems a bit harsh. hope the admins review it as i would love more brands on here.
-
i spoke to the guy that runs it and he openly admited to me that the bats where made else where. put the besokes are "shaped in house"
seems like a decent guy should be allowed on here
-
Yep big shame. Hope it gets sorted
-
Im sure someone will clarify whats goin on.
-
Guys, we have rules and they were not followed, you have to understand that many companies want to sell bats on here, not all of them follow the requirements.
It is down to the owner of the forum to decide what they want from the forum, they are the one paying for it and you get to enjoy it.
I'm sure if Fat Bats are prepared to follow the simple rules like all the other sponsors then you will see them in the own section, until then you will have to put up with the existing sponsors.
-
Fair enough. . . . there should be a "sticky" for potential forum sponsors advising them of what to do, and how to go about it. especially given the increasing popularity of the forum. im being lazy i havent looked for it if there is one already there.
-
thanks mike for that. hope fat bats can be seen soon on the forum as a sponsor.
-
Thanks to all of you for the information, should pass it on to them!:)
-
Just out of interest, what rules did they break/ not abide to?
-
Well they came on the forum purely to advertise themselves which stood to upset those who have to pay £15 a month to do the same.
Amazing isn't how the forum police always tend to be right.
-
Why are Salix not paying there all over the show subversive advertising
After chatting to Lisa who seems a good egg
good luck Fat Bats
-
I'm told that is a matter in hand.
-
Does Redback pay?
-
I don't think Gary advertises though
-
Does he not make business out of the forum. If he doesn't fair enough.
-
By word of mouth he does but never comes on to advertise only sometimes to answer questions and show photos of players but I may be wrong
-
If Salix have to pay:
By the same token you could argue GN should pay up because Alex came on here and dared to post some pics of the workshop.
-
I pointed something out
I think the powers that be will decide.
-
Well I for one will leave this to the forum owner to decide as this could go down a slippery slope
-
Word of mouth is very similar to the brand itself adertising and can often be more effective, because it's other people who are plugging the product, not the maker/owner.
-
It may not be 100% fair, but you can't controll word of mouth and there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion.
-
Gary's username is advertising for him, if he post any where on forums people will read Redback Cricket and a new comer who is not sure will get an idea and will later look up for it.
-

agreed
Lisa could you get some pictures up of the profiles on the forum please
-
if this forum is a means of income generation, then . . . . .
make up your own mind . . . .
none of my business really.
-
I think the admin team are capable of making their own decisions.
-
From my vantage it seems unfair. I think the mods/admins need to clarify a bit why they were banned. Specially, if they intended to be sponsors once they learnt about the rules.
Is it different if the owners post about a brand or if a third party does. I remember not too long ago someone posted about Vindico Cricket which was a similar post although the owner did not get involved.
-
Time this was closed i think it meant to be about FAT BATS.....

Until you or I pay for our usage of this forum, the admin team does not need to do anything we say.
Probably a sensible point to lock this one?

You and I Jon are the consumers for whom the advertising pound/dollar is at work. There is no free lunch as they say. So if I think Google is doing something wrong do I shut up and use something different as I don't "pay" for it.
-
All I can say then if that is your opinion that you are more likely to get a positive response by contacting the admins privately rather than saying it on here, which is universally never taken well by those in question.
-
Nothing works without consumers, but I think the admins will come up with the best decision
-
That seems fair. The rest of my response to you will be in a PM.
-
So are they banned or can they advertise??
-
I'm pretty sure they were banned.
-
As Jon pointed out lads direct your questions to the admin please.
-
To be fair £15 a month is a small amount when you consider that 400 odd cricket bat fans read this forum.....

agreed and you can interact with us. Its 50 a month on cricketbats.com.
-
Just like to point out that Sailx arent advertising.
Me and Ben, off our own backs are trying to provide information on bat making process and add to the forums quality of information. If it's not wanted then have no problem not doing it.
As far as im aware, whilst there has been enquiries through myself no business has been made out of it. As i have said Salix's commitment to the shops means there would be no direct sales through the forum.

Your right, i cant think many examples of brands that have come onto the forum, paid sponsership, then failed to sell a few bats in the first month. I've only used this for the past year so i'm not sure about furthr in the past but it seems a decent move for new brands trying to get there products out there
-
There seems to be a belief that no one would ever come on the forum and be anything but 100% honest, in which case we can completely disband the Admin team who work for nothing anyway and leave you guys to it. Brands that pay to advertise and keep the forum going can lose sales to new brands who may not delivery what they promise and may not tell you the truth. I'm sure when the paying brands stop paying and the forum shuts it will be fine too, of course there might be people who have paid out a large sum for bats and not be happy with the result but then it won't matter as no one will help them or care without a forum.
If you disagree with the Admin team then feel free to ask, we are not a secret police state....

And as for Dan and Ben at Salix and Alex at GN I think this is a positive move as we all know these main stream brands and the info is very interesting and great to have a point of contact in the industry. We also have Edward at Unicorn which I think is a coup for the forum, we get to converse with a MD at a major sports brand and how many people would wish for this to stop?
Oh and we have Lord Buzz of Surrey who can talk us through his collection of Islands he owns.....
-
I think Alex and Edward are great to have here personally. If anything else I have been able to converse with the chap who sorted Cook out with his Ashes bats. Nobody else gets this sort of opportunity
-
Fair enough just clarity
Come on people i sat here in my studio workshop with no bats to play with
why can i not be a forum trend...
Mike please can you reply to me pm i sent you..... :o
-
Dave, you are a forum legend, and now a sponsor too....
-
LEGGEND more like it
-
Oh and we have Lord Buzz of Surrey who can talk us through his collection of Islands he owns.....
I am reliably informed that Island Bats aren't that great and don't have any. Is that what you meant, or are you refering to my little retreats that are hush hush so I don't get harassed by the paps when away?
I think it is brilliant to have a forum when we can discuss the art of wand making with people who actually do it. But then that is why we waste on average 12% of our time per day on this forum...
-
Just 12% - you must be joking. I had a life before signing up
-
I'm getting divorced because of this forum my wife says i ignore here.
I have recently found you can not delete your transaction details from paypal.
She is not happy
-
I hope that is a joke, otherwise that is very unlucky
-
Dave - you're not being serious I hope
-
No you can not delete them mate :D
-
Dave is joking, he is not married, he is hanging out in Stringfellows most nights.....
-
who the woman in my house then and the kids......
sixth sense time/twilight zone/fight club....
-
Dave
i will send you a broken GM icon 909, will post pics later. that will be a test of your skills.
-
The cleaner/cook and her kids, don't get duped into thinking you have to look after them Dave, just go out and net.....
-
just got my fat bat FURORE delivered today
The bat is an absolute beauty, picks up feather light, has an amazing profile, and beautiful grain structure.
Tapped with a mallet, sound awesome.
Trust them guys!:)
-
I'm sure it is a good bat considering who makes them.....
-

-

-
