Title: Lorimers Sports Bats
Post by: FattusCattus on April 23, 2011, 09:17:36 AM

I've seen a few of these on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lorimers-Players-English-Willow-Cricket-Bat-SH-2-10-/150589395722?pt=UK_SportingGoods_CricketBats_SM&hash=item230fd3d30a

Anyone know if they are any good, or what they're origins are - I love the shape.

I used a Lorimers bat for a couple of innings last season and was quite impressed. It picked up well (2 11ish I think) and seemed to be well made. Actually it reminded me of a GN Xiphos. It went very well all in all. I would certainly consider one at that price...

Saw Gary Pratt using one last week, unsurprising as i'm fairly sure he has a share in the business now. The ones i've seen look decent asian sticks.

Lorimers pads and gloves are very good, fairly sure they're SS made, very very similar to the Newbery SPS line.

Beware of this seller though... I have bought Kookabura from him last year, He mentioned 2.9lbs but it was 2.6lbs. When I have talked to him he was rude.. MF..

I have used this seller a few times, always excellent - they post stuff on the day it is ordered and you almost always get it next day...

No just saw there members good company and a decent shop not too far from me. I know a couple of lads from this forum use them as well as good as it gets if you live in the North east.  They get some special bits of kit in that shop which has the old sports shop feel about it.

I use lorimers all the time living in Houghton LE Spring it's a no brainer for picking up items in a hurry etc! Really good shop with a great background and staff...although I don't think that needs mentioning on here as all of you's will probably know them. Also I used their pads and gloves last year and they were great

I've used them many times and popped in past the shop when I was down in Durham for the test, good selection. My mate picked up a reasonable Lorimers stick which had Ton branding for 100. Steal.
