Title: Puma Calibre Tricks 5000 LE Keeping Gloves....
Post by: justnotcricket86 on April 25, 2011, 08:20:08 PM
For the keepers out there...

Am ordering these in the morning, probably from Owzat as seem to be cheapest. Anyone used these yet? Not tried Puma gloves in a while and chose these over Kook Silvers. Got 2 pairs of SS and basically narrowing them all down to 2 pairs for the season

I will also shortly be selling my customs for a steal so keep your eyes peeled

Saw these earlier and if I had the money or kept more often these would deff be the ones I'd go for. They are really, really, really, ridiculously good looking, like Derek Zoolander

Are we talking proper fit? Did you try them on mate or get a recommendation from someone wearing them?

was considering buying the pads, as the 4000's and older 5000's i had were huge, however the really old 5000's i had fitted well.

These looked more slight and narrower at the top, anyone tried 2011 fxt pads and can comment on sizing? (sorry to hijack but saw the tricks topic and didnt want to make a new topic!)

puma usually have a stunning and very functional keeping range though, love their stuff! let us know your thoughts on the gloves mate!

(on the customs front am i right in thinking you had osm gloves made basically? as i think customs are good for people who struggle with some mens gloves but find youths very small, like meeee :D )

Post by: justnotcricket86 on April 25, 2011, 10:05:17 PM
No mate, I found them too small all round to be honest. Nothing much else wrong with them, just too snug for me. They are great gloves, I just want something bigger that's all
Title: Re: Puma Calibre Tricks 5000 LE Keeping Gloves....
Post by: peplow on April 25, 2011, 10:09:35 PM
ahh thuoght you had monsterous hands!

anyway what i meant is i think its a good niche for people with hands between mens and youths gloves, as nothing else fits as well even if they are snug. where as you all with normal size hands may as well go with standard mens gloves from any company!

anyways back to the pumas...;)

thanks peplow. so from a protection point of view, do you think the 4000s will be more protective than the 5000s? would you rate the Easton as the best gel gloves in the market?
Title: Re: Puma Calibre Tricks 5000 LE Keeping Gloves....
Post by: justnotcricket86 on April 27, 2011, 08:21:55 AM
They really won't be much difference regarding protection. Unless you are facing proper pace it won't be a big deal I would imagine

was wondering whether i should change or not.
Title: Re: Puma Calibre Tricks 5000 LE Keeping Gloves....
Post by: peplow on April 27, 2011, 08:39:00 AM
i wouldnt change mate in all honesty, ss are top top class form what i have seen and puma may be on a par if they are lucky, but certainly wouldnt be significantly better if at all! so i'd definately stick if i were you!

Simmy, good good, ordered the calibre's so will see how they come up, if they are big then 4000's it is!

I had a pair of the blue short cuff eastons, nothing has ever got close to them.

Reckon I would still be using them if it wasnt for the change in webbing regulations.

Here is the kit including the pads. The yellow inside is brighter than i really like it and its on the inside anyway! They fit very well, very streamline and really hug the leg, they feel light like aero pads but they are flexible and you know you have them on which is what i didnt like about the aeros! and do have shorter straps which suits my legs well! The styling with blue trim at the bottom and yellow at the knee part (which you cant really see in pic) is a great touch by puma, they really do know how to produce gorgeous kit!
They are much smaller than around 2 years ago, i recently bought some from mike, ballsitic 5000's which were huge in length and the straps were very long, so an improvement for us smaller people i feel :D
Unpadded cotton, padded half chamois and aero inners, just trialling them all, i like the unpadded but am forced to give more protection sometimes as it batter my hands which are really easily bruised and swollen, but better than they used to be!
Gloves are becoming top notch, very very stiff to begin with, but after using them and keeping them in my hot conservertory and under my materess they seemed to have softened massively, now supple they are awesome. As mens gloves usually fell a little big, and wearing many inners feels all wrong the customs are perfect, yes the cathcing area is smaller but they are smaller gloves and actually fit which is really what counts for me! Love the styling too :D :D

yes i am now a keeper, our keeper has a vascular tuma in his hand and we have no back up! and with my shoulder not allowing me to bowl or throw really i had to rethink. I was a decent fielder and have taken to it very well, love it! and first team skip is the keeper, and my coach is an ex first class keeper so in the right hands!

and i dont open i bat 3,4 or 5, although it may change as our opener has just had a knee op!

used the pads tonight, very nice and light, my only little thing it that they always slip behind the tongue of your spikes, which makes them sit a lot lot higher, but i think thats the style! very pleased though, a good investment i feel!
