Title: Effects of too heavy bat
Post by: pacman75cricket on April 27, 2011, 06:09:06 AM
I have a bat that weighs 2lb12oz dressed usually have used probaly 2lb10oz dressed.

Using this bat seems ok most of the time however just feel sometimes drawna fraction wider/flicking out could this be extra weight not sure if made diff at weekend when in 2 minds if I would have stopped shot with lighter bat.  Probably poor batsmanship on my side.

Any thoughts

few things from my experience:-

1. Muscle fatigue - use to wake up the following day feelling like my arm was going to fall off. Muscle pulls etc
2. Being "late" on a shot, balls jagging back at you is a common example or missing outside off half volleys, playing over yorkers

The only problem I find while using a heavy bat (3.2) is playing late/wristy shots to spinners... But to combat that, I aim to smash them out the park instead!
