yeah i do need a little more work on the toe area i think and a general better finish. didnt have too many sanding options. have improved my range of sanding grades so that should help out a bit. both bats come out around 2lb9 to 2lb10. pretty good pick up 2
-
which travisher did you use bud number 5???
is any for sale
it close to payday and my wife lets me have my monthly allowance :(
-
I was told a very good trick by a very good batmaker about the finish if you want a help mate about the finish pm me i have a good tip
-
ive just managed to get hold of a couple. waiting for them to be delivered. didnt use a travisher on these. i have a couple of round bottomed planes. both pretty small so alot of work to get the concaving.

Posting the tip on here would probably be better!
-
ok no worry's.
After all your sanding and wire wool if you use it i do and love it i wass using Beeswax to finish it was good but not great..
I was told by a certain batmaker who i trust and respect and mean batmaker not a finisher to use Briwax and guess what works like a treat.
So for a good hand finish use briwax...
I hand finish refurbs and use the great stuff and must say thanks to the mentor for this information
-
is it me or does it look abit narrow ??
Briwax is rather expensive though :P
-
Its regulation width. Maybe just the fact I have a half grip underneath 2 full grips so makes the handle look massive
-
Realy nice! Whats the edge size on them? The handle does look huge.
-
bats look good. top effort mate.
-
They are probably about 30-35mm but i havent measured them,i will check a bit later and let you know. Yeah the handle confuses alot of people. Just how i like my set up.
-
Looks a really nice shape, I'm not a fan of those 'v' shaped toes but you've got this spot on compared with other 'v' shaped toes lol. Does it pick up well?
-
It does. not being big headed but very happy with the pick up. With all my grips, anti scuff and toe guard now on it its approx 2lb 13ish but picks up very light. The toe shape was more out of ease really. Next one i make im going for the standard rounder shape.
