Title: Getting into Position / Quick Hands
Post by: uknsaunders on May 01, 2011, 11:18:19 PM
Been watching a fair bit of the IPL in my week off and I'm impressed how the likes of McCullum get themselves into the right position with small adjustments, but also get their hands through the shot so quickly.

Any training tips we can deduce?

I know the likes of Glenn Maxwell doe quite a bit of boxing to increase hand speed.

Would skipping also be a viable option as it would help your foot movement? Helping you get down the track and around the crease (depth and width)..? ??? :)

the thing about trying to change your hand speed is that you can change the way you time the ball - to be honest, the hand speed you have is difficult to change - you can practice with a much heavier bat and then use a lighter one - but if I were you I'd work on trying to pick the length of the ball up faster as that will get you into position faster and make it look like you have quick hands...
