Don't waste your money in there is what id say bud, many people on here could help sort out what you need, i suggest just looking and deciding on what suits you and then ask around and save a few quid.

...I'm sure you'll try virtually everything on before you decide.

These look quite nice - look like they sit low

Tried them on at M&H the other day, they were ok but the top hat sat quite far back.

Go for some kookaburra pads dave, the best in my opinion

Ive got the Alphas from last year and they're really good if they're anything to go by. bit stiff but if you leave them done up for a while then they loosen up in a few days.

Dave what i said was go and try them on as many as possible and then decide what you like and what is the best fit and then ask around and see if you can save a few quid. That way you know exactly what fits and what you like and what you want, don't buy from just pictures bud.

Yes my all time number 1 pads were the old gn test opener pads my only worry is the top strap and weather it sits to high causing a little bulk

GT335 quite bulky and heavy, luxurious and very squeeky! Annoyed umpires!

If they have any asian style a la morrants atc id go down that route personally. liking my sg's anyway
Title: Re: Right got the ahead which pads
Post by: procricket on May 02, 2011, 09:48:02 PM
Had morrants you either like them or hate them I call them marmite pads not a big fan of them or of that 2 strap style

There gonna get pissed with me with around 10 possible pads

I tried some ccx 900 liked them but I then returned to the pad I first tried on and bought them they fit like a glove small mens Gn legends le

Money I spend I earnt doing a few returns for s few mates so just putting money back into my love batting kit

still wouldnt be parting with that sort of money for batting pads especially the way i change them but as you said supply and demand they had them and you wanted them so fair enough i guess.

Nice but the top hat was not sitting flush
No doubt top class I liked the rogue 850 and my favourite kooks ccx 900

In the long run rich they will save me money I have had 6 pair of pads since the end of last season think I have found my pad for the season here

He main proplem for the kooks is the horrible coloured piping around the top hat
I know it a model thing but is plain garish

I know that they're made of foam and not cane which I why I ask.

If I could pick any pads other than Morrant then these would be the ones I would get. They look very nice.

Dave, would it be possible to weigh each pad and then tell us? ;)

Think there should be a seperate pad thread where everyone posts the model and weight of their pad. Will greatly assist the internet shopper like myself.

So whats happened to the home made pads then Dave!!!?
Title: Re: Right got the ahead which pads PICTURES ADDED....
Post by: procricket on May 04, 2011, 07:49:03 PM
well they were never home made perry i was trying to sort out the back of the pads on a pair of lavers mate but was in truth not happy about the shape of the front as the top hat was set too far back and in my mind would never have been right

maybe we should be less fussy Pacman mate but i guess it goes with the terrotory i have said it before and said it again i like my softs more than i like bats...and more fussy about them.

When or if i ever get a chance to work full time in the industry i will make sure i endeavour to make sure whoever comes for there kit is sorted out properly as i find a major flaw in equipment (all) is the size margins and so many people not using the correct kit mainly juniors due many reason monitery or peer pressure..

I think Gm do a lot with there size charting bats and such but more in my eyes needs to be done..

And although i know it was to0ngue in cheek mate but why not be as fussy would you wear a ill fitted helmet.

Fair comments Dave and i personally find most pads way to bulky especisally for my short little legs and the GM mens full size yeah you can get lost in them as with most brands if you are 5.9 and under. Only problem is if you are a guy and have muscular chunky legs the straps on youth pads are normally way too small or tight when on. And dont get going on helmets. The most comfortable i ever liked is a puma though i have yet to try an ayrtek!!!
