why has he got one pad under his whhites but not the other one?

Maybe the sponsors did not pay him the full amount!!!:)

Possibly broke a strap? and didnt have time to find another pair or borrow a pair, unlikely but maybe.

if you looke closly it looks just like a knee pad and thats it perhaps because its protected by the stumps i dont know thats waht it looks like to me

I would also say broken strap as if you look at the bottom of the leg its very square like nothings holding it round.
