Title: Pressing and Sound

I have tested out three top notch bats this evening with a heavy mallet (M&H type) and by tapping up a ball. the bats are so good i am having difficulty in deciding which one to use in matches. the bats are an instinct ak47, series 3 scat and a laver reserve.

all the bats are responsive, and ping beautifully, but what i noticed was each bat made a slightly different sound, when hit with a mallet, but all pinged beautifully.

there is little to choose between them performance wise, but the sounds are
ak47 loudest, scat and then laver the quietest or lowest pitch.

why is that?  is it due to pressing?

The harder they are the higher the pitch and most times louder, a soft and non knocked bat will have a duller sound, you always know when a you hit a good shot from the crack and this works with the mallet too. Also factor in the rebound from the mallet.

So what is the different, between a hard pressed bat and a not so hard pressed bat? performing wise
I have heard that you can choice between hard or soft pressing..
