James Benning is visiting Uzi sports tomorrow. He will be at our store between 12 and 2pm. James helped me to hand pick SS bats on my last visit to SS warehouse

Also the Albion sales rep I believe....we used to kit him out when he was with CCC too, is he at Leicester still?
-
Benning such a wasted talent. I believe he plays minor county now as no club gave him a contract which im very surprised about. Unfulfiled promise.
-
Who is James Benning?
I just know James Laver ....:S
-
county player, opened the batting for surrey for ages, then moved to leitecshire and batted in the middle order, couldnt play the short ball, found out due to that.
-
Set a pro 40 world record partnership too ify memory serves me right! 400 odd ???
-
Playing for Wiltshire ATM I believe......

steve waugh couldnt play the short ball and look at his record. you just need to duck and weave, a la robin smith style. . . .anyone remember him.

You need to watch Fire in Babylon mate absolute quality
Plus I know James well played with him through all surrey age groups to be fair used to put the short ball away well at youth level but was lethal when anything was pitched up
-
wasn't he on the fringe of England's ODI team a few years agoi
-
yes he was 12th man for them in the 4 day game as well

Still got a few bits on him from my days with CCC
-
wasnt he involved in the lions or acadamey tours arround that time aswell?
-
I love his answer to the burning question "will England retain the ashes" (note the date) and he said yes!
and Perry Crooke "he will almost certainly feature in this Summer's england one day plans".
I thought he was a decent player, but not an international.
Ali Brown however, was a whole different kettle of fish. He should have play 40 tests for england as well as 100 odi's. but what would I know. (and no I don't play for Cheam ;) )

Yeh, he works for SS/Albion/Incredible Cricket Company
-
Don't be supprised if Essex try and sign him sometime this year.
-
Stats aren't exactly blinding...

Your right, no blinding. But, didn't really play alot for his club there. Any stats for minor counties?

Will never happen mate, dont believe the stuff you read on the essex forum ( I presume this is where you got it from :) )
The point is 18 counties and even unicorns didnt want him. What a shame for him though, all that talent he has.
-
I was supprised the unicorns didn't want him, as i know one of the players in the squad, and in my eyes benning is a better bat.
Essex have made some wierd signings, and with the way the top order are batting, and the England test coming up (loss of Cook and possibly Ravi) they will be looking for someone.
I know it has cropped up on the Essex forum, but i do have a sneeky feeling it could happen
-
He does some work for Hunts as well. Living in Leics, playing in Minor Counties.

As an avid Middx fan, I can stone cold guarantee that Owais will score hundreds of runs for them this season!
-
Back on topic, did he turn up today?
-
Yes he was at the store with Chris(Albion/SS Agent in UK), can't go in details what was discussed.
He couldn't take his eyes off from all the bats I have and said this is the best selection of bats he he has seen in a shop. He also took photos of my son Uzi's bat.
