how good?
on a scale of 1-10, what would you score them?
-
Honestly an 8 but that may be due to it being slightly wrong shape but performance was as good as any when hit right
-
Mine is very good. I think the Instinct is almost as good, so I guess I'd have to give it 9, as I never give a 10, unless something is perfect. That would probably make the instinct an 8.75.
-
The one I had before was easily a 9! The pickup was just superb (picked up 2-3 ounces lighter!) and the response and feel were excellent!
Haven't used my newer one yet, but that will come soon. In fact neither have been used in a match yet (only the nets) but I'll be changing that very soon!

I want one :(

Mine also picks up a couple of ounces lighter than it's 2lb 15oz dead weight.

me too Mikey.

How would you go about getting one?

Ask Talisman!

me too Mikey.
id be a right fussy bugger tho and want one made as a replica as my current match bat......

Then wait a long time!
They are as common as rocking horse s*@4!
TK only makes these in VERY limited numbers, and only very rarely - that's why I was surprised when the one Kev had was raffled off, as he had no sensible offers for that one! :(

And even less frequently with C6+ handles....

that one did look a beaut, my faves shilly's one purely because of the weight oh and the pink stickers :)
-
I have some on back order, some for the forum, some elsewhere, I felled extra cover with one on it's first outing, like upgrading from an air rifle to a AK47......
-
They are rather lively i must admit....i lent one to a lad who "borrowed" the C6 i had off me all last year...he didnt know anything about it being a lam etc and came back to the clubhouse after the game and said about the bat going rather well!
just need to knock in my new one properly now :(
-
Mike, can I have one please?
-
they go like (No Swearing Please) of a stick i was abit optermistic but dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-

I needed smelling salts after reading that! ;)
-
mine is sounding pretty tasty after a 30 min bash with the mallet.....needs a bit more yet tho i fear :(
-
Owning a unique Lam, i'm not sure how it compares to the more conventional lam's. Mine was made using a slightly different method, which i still cannot fathom how the hell it was made! Mine sounds very crisp and against the new ball it really cracks off the blade with a very satisfying sound. I would say that they are worth the money. Do they pick up lighter? No. Do they make you a better batsmen? No. Do they give you a little bit more confidence that the 6 will clear the boundary and that slightly aerial shot might clear the fielder? Yes.
-
Are they legal though
-
No.
-
As far as I am concerned, they are legal in friendly matches so that's good enough for me!

If you're also happy to throw the ball or claim catches which haven't carry in these friendlies then yeh go ahead.
-
I use mine in games with umpires and still hasn' been questioned
-
Let's throw some words around then like unfair advantage, cheating, not playing in the spirit of the game. Maybe the bowler can tamper with ball in these games too and should be ok, oh I don't know maybe even give them some polish to keep the shine or hang on let's let the batsmen glue the bails on
-
Or let's do what the yanks do to there baseball bats when they cheat, hollow them out and fill them will rubber superballs
-
Sorry boys - get down from your high horses!
They were made illegal in firsr class cricket and in league or other such.
So if they are fine to use in friendly matches, then how the hell is that cheating?
I walk if I've nicked the ball, I don't claim catches I haven't taken. I don't ball tamper. But if it's legal to use it, then what's the issue?

Errr, in my competition every team including my own has a bowler who throws (bowls with a bent arm) the ball rather than bowls.
Most teams have a player that uses the Gray Nicolls Fusion with a carbon handle.
Every team has an Indian batsman that uses the Lams brother - the double wood bat.
Since Murali was cleared of any wrong doing and bowling with a bent arm became legal, as far as I am concerned, in cricket, everything is legal.
Bowlers pick the seams without complaint from the umpire.
John Lever used vaseline to keep the ball shiney - and the MCC said it was OK.
Botham and Lamb accused the Pakistanis of being cheats because Waqar and Akram could make the ball reverse after 40 overs - which is impossible they said, and went to court to fight it.
In the 2005 Ashes, Flintoff and Jones could make the ball reverse violently after 15 overs (with the aid of mints), apparently, unlike the Pakistani's, this was a God given skill.
Would I feel guilty using a Lam?
No.
-
Well - I'm actually only talking about using mine in friendlies where it's legal.
But according to Tom, I'm a cheat if I use it in friendlies! ???
Not quite sure why! The pros used lams and similar when it was legal, so obviously they were cheats....even before it was banned! :(
-
My pro used his in international matches and has professional umpires check them and he didn't get told off so he must be a cheat
-
you could argue its a refaced bat . . . . .ie repaired
-
they are ilegal end of. but ive used mine today seem to come off nice! didnt hit a 6 tho :(
