Title: Getting out of the blocks
Post by: tommo256 on May 13, 2011, 08:29:10 AM
Hello,
I played a 20/20 wednesday night and clipped one past a fielder just slightly and called for a single but was too sluggish out of the blocks and ran myself out, direct hit.
I wondered what i could do to get myself out of the block a bit quicker as im not exactly a sluggish person, do the 100m in about 13 seconds.
Any ideas would be grand :)

I guess any indication of sluggishness and struggle would get the fielder to target you. I would run hard and put pressure on the other bloke. Thats my 2 pence anyway.  :) :)

perhaps using the call of "waiting" to see if its past the fielder rather than going when he fielded it may help ;)

Not much you can do in that case. was it a misfield? how far past him and how deep was he?

if he was at regulation mid on and you running to the danger end probably sounds like not the best call. had you seen him throw/field yet to get an idea if he was poor or had a rocket arm?

well i assumed he was like the rest of the team, which were poor and assumed he was all gear no idea, as he had nike fly wires, and i was proven wrong

i wouldnt worry too much, think we have all had a moment like that. if your doing the 100 in about 13 seconds it doesnt sound like you should need to worry most of the time.
