Hey,
Anyone here used an SF Sapphire or any other bats in thier range. Any reviews or recommendations.
Regards
-
Had an SF Sapphire. It was ok I guess - but gave it away to use in a raffle as it was tapping up ok but way down the list really. Wasn't that impressed when compared to some of the custom bats to be honest!
-
From what I've heard from suppliers in India is that SF's quality can vary so that has stopped me from buying one.
-
I have one tucked away somewhere, it seemed a good bat at the time but has slithered down the queue tbh, and now none of my SH's are going to be used anyway :/
I wasn't a great fan of the round handle, which also seemed to taper a lot towards the (non-splice) end.

Saw and held one certainly not the one which looks in picture. Picture suggest low middle, no concaving but it had slight concaving and wasn't impressed with it at all!

Wouldn't say pictures look like a low middle here at least: http://onlinestockist.com/SF-Saphire-Grade-1-English-Willow-Cricket-Bat-P588394.aspx
Has quite an amount of concaving and a mid middle, mine does anyway.

Alex, I thought u'd have a kook like Ponting instead of an SF!!! :D
-
lol i got the SF as my kook kahuna ricky ponting cracked at the toe :(
so you weren't far off :D
-
I was tempted to buy an SF for this season but it just didnt do it for me. Ended up buying a kook!

Noticed them in the Romida catalogue for this year.. then noticed that they'd also managed to (unless im being stupid) misspell several of there sponsored players names :o !! eg Jermy Taylor (Jerome Taylor), Tilak Ratne Dilshan!! Surely they would check that of all things before sending it off?!
-
depends on the number of people putting it together and the size of the company. I worked at a major travel company and brochures were proofed 3 times as standard and by multiple people.
If they are a small outfit in terms of manpower, it could be entirely possible that they got a temp in for a couple of weeks and one guy is in sole charge of all the brochures. Not very good, but if 10k have been printed then you can't justify scrapping them for a few typos (as bad as they are).
-
Yeah I agree there but prices and sponsored players must be two of the most important things to check surely, even if only one guy is in charge
-
Apparantly SF and SS were one company before. I dont know how true that is
-
owned by brothers. not the same company though.

I have an SF Impressive - goes like the clappers.
I use it simply as a net bat, but I lent to a young English lad who played a few games for us while here on his gap year - he smashed 85, 35 and 31 with it. He cracked sixes to all parts.
The bat is not AAA class compared to a bespoke bat, but it still does the job and purchased through Ajit at onlinestockist, it is ridiculously cheap too.
I imagine that the SF Saphire would be better again.
