Anyone ever got a few cheeky runs from over throws,
My brother ran 3, they missed the ball backing up he ran an other and then it trickled to the boundary for 4.
Got 8 runs off 1 ball. Anyone else had this happen?

seen on a sunday a first teamer wang one in missing by a mile and an under 13 had no chance 5 runs !

Isn't the law regarding overthrows that say you hit it to the off-side, and run a single. The throw comes in and goes for overthrows, you run two more but the ball goes to for 4. Doesn't only the single ran before the ball past the stumps count? Sorry if it's a bit awkwardly written but it's early and I can't think this early! Haha

Correct
Law 19.7. Overthrow or wilful act of fielder
If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder the runs scored shall be
(i) any runs for penalties awarded to either side
and (ii) the allowance for the boundary
and (iii) the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had already crossed at the instant of the throw or act.
Law 18.12(b) (Batsman returning to wicket he has left) shall apply as from the instant of the throw or act.

While playinga game a few years back at a bank ground (HSBC) in south London, a batsman got a cheeky edge to the longest part of the boundary and the ball stopped a gnats go'nads measurement from the rope. Our gulley at the time (not the most athletic man and about 23 stone) took chase, by the time he got to the ball they were coming back for the 5TH!!!!!! run. Gulley thought ''if i chuck it over the rope, they will only get 4'' NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO, batsmen ended up hitting a 9!!!! I wasnt mad or unhappy, just made for good banter at the bar after.
