He could, but legally perhaps not.

You might as well buy a Series Grade MMi3. Similar price, probably similar willow.

Yes they can make them, last time I was at Solitaire they had one made up - it wasn't as short of blade as a mongoose, much more like the size of a Joker. They're the same price as his standard blades.

mattw, do you think they would go as extreme as the mongoose?

Grade 3 willow :S

Having seen a few solitaires I would argue that the Series Mongoose range is often better looking.

What would the performance of a series mongoose be like to the super premium?

Graded on looks, so it really does vary.

Yeah that could be a point. Any idea how Solitaire grade theres?

Apparently Solitaire only have G1 bats, they don't offer different prices for different grades.

I've played with 2 solitaires, my old one(which the club bought off me) and also my mates. Both very good looking bats and they both fly out of the middle.

And with a Mongoose shape virtualy being all middle, should fly?

They are incredibly good looking grains. How did that go mattw?

They only sell 'G1' so I presume it must be looks based. Otherwise they'd just be burning lots of bats.

As far as I have experienced Solitaire bats, yeah. They're good for the price, however they could come on the heavy side - if you live local I would go and speak to Roger directly. His son usually runs the shop and he just relays the information of the bats to Roger. Also when you get the bat, I would say it'll be better to go and pick it up and feel it. Having the mongoose type shape shouldn't really affect the weight issue too much, due to your swing speed being quicker - however I would urge you say what weight you want the bat when it is 'dressed'(with stickers etc).

They are incredibly good looking grains. How did that go mattw?
The bat went superbly, it was a bit heavier than I asked however I went back and got some weight taken off the bat which was done for free.

Only problem being the handle? The splice area would be dead, so no real benefit at all. Would only get half the hitting area. Be as well going for the real deal in my opinion!

Do you think he would do the reverse splice thing?

Think that wouldn't be legal to make. I have a Cor3, well worth the extra cash. Think it would be a waste of £100 getting half the bat and technically half the performance off the face.

If copying from photos he won't know how to do it legally (within MCC laws)' whilst retaining the performance. If he has a 2011 model then maybe he could, but legally he'd be infringing on Mongooses IP

if u want a bat that's like a mongoose, has no splice....like a mongoose......then why not buy a mongoose?

That is a very valid point. And as mentioned before the Series Grade MMi3 is quite cheap. I guess my only other option would be to look for a second hand one! Anyone have one your not to attached to?

You can get a harrow sized kashmir one off prodirect for 30 quid

It's hard enough to get Solitaire to deviate from a bat that weighs 2'12, I think you'll be lucky to get them to radically change their shape too.

So solitaire is another batmaker who has an extra special deal with Wrights to only buy G1 willow then... ;)
