Hello - I just wanted to see if anyone (other than those who do it as a brand) have made any bats recently - this is a forum to discuss the making of cricket bats and it has been a while since someone said "what do you think of this bat I made/shaped/sanded or made a complete mess of ;)"
I am hopelessly inept at this kind of thing, so marvel at everyone's attempts to shape a pressed and handled cleft let alone trying to press a bat too - even if the bat ends up being a 2lbs 10oz toothpick with wonkey edges and so much concaving the spine is a millimetre thick...
So please, how are you getting on, have you any pics you are prepared to share with me (and a few of your closest mates!)...

i hear you Buzz
not enough bats on here recently for my liking
-
I just need £75 and the tools
-
will be making a few when mike returns from rugby hibernation !

I'll probably be having a crack at one in the summer so a month or two.

Girlfriends grandparents are downsizing their house next month and her grandfather is a carpenter so I'm hoping when they move I'll be able to pick up alot of the tools required and a decent workbench. Then all I need is a bad cleft to get hacking away at.

I reshaped/weight reduction my solitaire a couple of weeks ago. I also made an ashgoose.
Was getting some partmades off mike but communication ended at his end so I left it so

im half way through one. Not as happy as id like to be with it.i found the cleft didnt have as much depth to it as others id worked with so limited the profile especially as i went for big edges! its currently a chunky edge not a very high spined grade 3. edges are approx 38-40mm and the spine is probably another 15-20mm on top. have another few part mades on the way. Ill sort some pics out in the next few days and get them on here.
