Found this brand on ebay, claiming to be JS wright willow sent to Pakistan shaped and handles applied then shipped back to UK . Anyone got one or know anything about them? they seem very cheap, but look quite good, heres a link to typical bat http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BEST-ENGLISH-WILLOW-CRICKET-BAT-10-GRAIN-BAT-11-/160592029063?pt=UK_SportingGoods_CricketBats_SM&hash=item256407e587
Be interested to hear your thoughts!

You wouldnt happen to be Steve would you?
-
Patchy quality, very hit and miss. Some have had them and been happy, others wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Now now. I was going to wait at least 5 minutes...
-
Haha just enjoyable its exactly the same post as posted on CSF! Then stated he had ordered stuff already!
-
Same post on the other forum when James got nasty emails
-
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, it could be more fun :D
Why is it posts like this stick out like saw thumbs?
-
please do not get me started ! :-[
-
Ahhhhh Rory from Stoke!
Like a fart in a revolving door, this just keeps coming back to our attention!
-
I bought a bat off him for 100 pound unbranded the wood was very nice and the bat played well after I got it re handled
Sold it to a mate he is happy with it and all in all for 125 pound it was a bargain
Many will knock most have not bought yes the handles are poor indeed but the one i had played well and was a good bat
I agree though by others that the quality is varible
-
Let me say I am nothing to do with the company supplying these products, and was after genuine appraisal of the gear buy people who may have purchased the product, and yes I have ordered a couple of items off them and have found them extremely helpful, ( only ordered on Friday so waiting for post) I now realise that cricket forum world is fairly small so it may appear like duplicate posting but I just wanted to maximise the response from people that may have purchased from them.
-
Why place your order, then go to the trouble of signing up to two forums to start 4 topics asking for details about what you just bought?
Mate you've been caught out and you know it, you may as well stop digging.

I have been a member of this forum for less than 1/2 hour, and you lot are amazing I am nothing to do with product or supplier,
I asked a simple question and received what amounts to total abuse!!
As it happens you have a member on this site who I believe is respected by the majority who I happen to have bought goods off in the past who can vouch for the fact that I am in know way connected to anyone in the cricket industry ( Asad at Uzi sports)
what a shower you are, so let me ask again,
has anyone actually used any of the gear and if so I would be grateful for an opinion on goods that you have seen or used thank you
-
it's all gone very quiet, jonpinson
-
You will get a fair bit of abuse for mentioning MSR gear on this forum, it's a subject that seems to come up once a week at least!
In essence no one is that impressed with the gear. Yes, it's a decent price but like so many things in this world you get what you pay for. I'm sure, with the number of bats MSR have for sale there are some decent bats in there somewhere, law of averages would suggest this anyway but as to whether you'd be lucky enough to get one is anyone's guess.
Mind you, if you do own MSR I imagine you get the pick of them :D :D :D (Joke!!)

Abuse? Really?
Perhaps you'd like to start legal action against me?
All you need to know about that brand is if it was top quality, it would be sold for top prices. It is sold on the cheap, for a reason.
Ok I'll play your game, in future it will be worth consulting these forums before you buy, then we can steer you in the best direction. I honestly don't know what you hope to gain buy asking for opinions after you have bought. Wait until the gear arrives and make your own judgement.
-
As I said antenna I have had 1 bat from there was not a bad bat bit soft and needed a lot of gentle knocking in for sure but after a rehandle it turned out ok
-
What I cant understand is, if it comes up once a week, when i was researching nothing came up in any of the forums regarding this make its like they dont exist if you do a search you will only get this thread,
thanks for objective reply procricket,
I accept you get what you pay for but a top of the range bat from mainstream supplier is a different price to a top of range bat from a less well known brand in uk eg, salix compared ss, I was just after a good deal for my lad,
it does seem as though ppl are very anti this product without seeming to have any real knowledge of it ie no reviews
-
I believe the reason people on here are anti is due to the fact he is one of the stoke boys and they use to sell planks on ebay with fake stickers and take poor victimes for mugs
-
This is an awkward one for you antenna. Generally this stuff isn't referred to by the brand name, indeed, Rory from stoke has been mentioned many times, however it is the first time I've heard of MSR.
Good luck with your purchase. I hope you aren't disappointed.
-
I think people remember Rory, maybe not so much MSR
Certainly the bat I had from them was massively over dried, and snapped in half after a few uses.
-
Aah now i see , well that understandble, lets hope I havent been mugged, hopefully if feedback is anything to go by I maybe allright
-
I would suggest that if feedback is anything to go by, they're not that great.
-
feedback on ebay is 100% how can that be " not that great" ?
-
Ah right, I thought the feedback that you asked from on here. But you're right, eBay doesn't lie.
-
I think I just have to wait and see what postie delivers, i will put up pics and review when they arrive,

Ebay feedback is left within a day or two of receiving, you need to use a cricket bat extensively to judge it's performance and durability.
-
I know it is old Tom did you ever use the bat
I have had 2 never used either
-
Went down to stoke because i didnt trust ebay and picked up their top of the range bat.
only used it once and has a wonderful ping
-
How was the journey?

I think they come from pakistan

Funny I know of some very good batmkers in Sialkot
-
There are some very good batmakers in Sialkot.
-
SG cricket used to be based in Sialkot before Indo-Pak partition.
-
Most of Pakistani players use CA bats with there sponsor stickers on top.
-
Plenty of good bat makers in Sialkot.
Also plenty of $25 planks being stickered up in stoke and sold as handcrafted English willow for massive profit.
Still, could be CA bats stickered and sold for a loss by some good Samaritan?
-
AS bats started at £11 for EW when I last looked (admittedly 2 years ago!) so could be one of those.
-
http://www.msrcricketbats.co.uk/
Got a website now
-
They must be getting a really good deal on willow from Wright & Sons, and on import and export to be able to cover the costs and still make a profit for a bat for those prices!
-
Not sure if you no the prices at wrights it's lower than people think
-
A 1000 bats?
They'll do well to sell 10 bats
-
A couple of my mates bought them and there actually not bad the ones got a cracking middle!
-
I had 2 sold them both and both went well and last
I never used them wish I had done
