What do you guys use to get of the sticky glue left behind by an anti scuff sheet?

I just sand it off

Does anyone know how long you should leave a bat after oiling to fit one of these ? and also what type of glue to apply if your sheet has lost its adhesion after applying too soon after oiling  :-[

Scrape it off the worst with a blunt knife and then sand off the rest
