Title: WHAT A SHAME - KP and Moores resign
Post by: yvk3103 on January 07, 2009, 10:08:56 AM
What a pity. And knock-out blow for English cricket ahead of their crucial test match series with WI and Ashes....

Another gifted and talented cricketer getting carried away with this success.....

Last night while watching the Aus vs SA test match, I was listening to discussions between some commentators and they all seemed to support Moores and go ga-ga over his experience and capabilities...

A big big shock for English cricket. The 12 wisemen need to sort this out on a war-footing if they need to limit the impact of this development on the morale of the English players.....

Who could be the next captain - Andrew Strauss? Freddie (maybe too early for him)? Back to Collingwood

Could it expedite the return of Michael Vaughan

Spare a thought for Adidas..... :) All those wanting to buy a Adidas bat, wait for some time  ;)

Good riddance to Pietersen as captain - as Jack Bannister said on Talk Sport this morning, no one man is bigger than the team no matter how good they are. Also pleased Moores has gone as don't see any progress under him, whilst under Fletcher England came on in leaps and bounds.

I really quite fancy Key as captain. Definitely worth his place as a batsmen and allows Flintoff to concentrate on his cricket). To me he would displace Collingwood as only so many times you can make career saving runs.

perhaps key could come in for bell at 3 however i cant see him coming into captain. I always thought andrew strauss was good a captain and he did have a good series against pakistan before being overlooked for ashes. Worth giving him another chance i think.

Much as I would like Key to be given the captaincy I think you are right and that they will give the job to Strauss, although that does again bring up the two captains issue as he isn't in the one day team

We he might come into bat in middle order in one day team, or maybe they might give one day job to freddie

it has not been confirmed however i dont think he is giving up playing, he did say if captaincy didnt work out he would happy to be just a player again. The main obstacle would be if peter moors had stayed but since he has also gone i cant see it being a problem

Well I think this had to happen otherwise players would begin to think that they could get away with anything. A good choice for Strauss to be captain as he was decent against Pakistan.

Rob Key can't even get in the side as a batsman let alone a captain. I believe Cook should of been chosen as he's young and could  be the future for england, much like Clarke is for Australia.  Strauss in my opinion is past his best, and has only a few years left...

Strauss is only an interim choice, he won't be long term he lacks the charisma.
I don't think Cook should have got it he doesn't seem influencial enough...
I still think in the end they will come back to Pietersen, give it until after we have lost the ashes

Big mistake, in cricket the captain should lead his team and make the decisions regarding his team, because more than likely when push comes to shove, the captain takes all the blame, hence Ponting at the minute. Moores wanted to run the show, when in my opinion the captain should lead his team and the coach is there to support him, it was evident this wasn't the case with England, Moores was making decisions regarding players and certain things, which obviously got under KP's skin. The problems where there before he was even captain though as before taking the job he had talks with Moores, and Moores has obviously gone back on his word. Pietersen is the man for the job, he's got all the qualities, he  is very similar to Graeme Smith, given time he would have become the same captain I feel. When Smith started it was the same as with Pietersen, great talent, outspoken, big ego, but Micky Arthur lets Smith lead his team, and that shows.   If Graham Ford from Kent gets the job, expect to see Pietersen back in the job.
