My friend has just brought a spare bat with the exact same specs as his match bat. His match bat is 3 years old and despite a refurb has a few surface cracks. The question is does he use his present bat until it breaks, start using the spare or alternate between bats in some shape or form (ie. use one for nets).
Thoughts?

i'd use the spare one in nets, to get it fully run in for when the match bat eventually goes..... and stick to using his current one in matches

Why not just use them both? Unless your friend is a very very good player the 'spare' bat will be a better bat than he is a player so isn't really going to detract from his performance. I just can't see the point of buying bats and not using them.

I think my mate was thinking of using 1 bat until it breaks and then switching to the other. The reason he is thinking about it seriously is because the bat is now banned - it's a Newbury Uzi C6+, and he won't be able to find many in decent condition in the future. Getting the best out of these bats in terms of performance and longevity is his goal.

he could send one to a custom company before it goes, and get another made up?(the second one that is)
I would just use it till it breaks, then move on.
