Afridi has retired from international cricket
Seems strange as it's not as if he has an ipl contract something must have happened as he is only 31 and had a fantastic world cup
-
I think this is the 2nd or 3rd time he's retired. He'll be back again, in a search for notoriety and cash.
Waste of a fantastic talent.
-
Don't panic, all pakistani players have to retire at least 4 times before they stop playing international cricket.
He'll be back.
Again.
-
I think someone is looking for some attention...
He joins Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf etc in short term retirement. Give him a week
-
of course some are forced into retirement due to off the field antics...
;)
-
I think he means it.
-
There is issue going on.
It was expected!
As far people who say he did it for cash they must be nuts! The amount of wealth and money he has is probably uncountable for you guys!!!
-
Apparently it's in protest against the current board, says it doesn't respect its players.
So expect him to return whenever crazy Ijaz Butt and co get overthrown.

You are missing the point COvers - it's all so boring every time a Pakistani cricketer retires in protest against the board.
It's not news, it's soap opera - and he's one of the worst.
He'll be back, it's just yawn inducing, and we've all seen it before.

Mate with all due respect you have made it very clear you are from a wealthy background, you really don't have to keep reminding us.
-
Well they have just suspended his contract and withdrew permission for him to play for Hampshire and in a Sri lankan tournament
-
Fattus true but this is PCB mate.
Afridi says only if Ijaz Butt is removed he will come back
-

Grow up John, he might not be the finest exponent of the Queen's English but I am sure you got what he meant. The is a lot which is lost in translation. Why do you assume the worst in people?
A sage once said: "A word of advice if my words are so very offensive to you. Use the ignore function, it makes life easier."

Yeah - but who cares? who is he to issue ultimatums to his board? He's not bigger than the Pakistani game, and he should learn that - fast!
-
Hopefully it's another cheat out of the game, can't se him sticking to his word though, Pakistani players have a massive problem with being honest.

Those two have had so many indefinite bans between them, good old crazy PCB.

Reopening a very old topic!
Afridi revealed roughly his real age - 4/5 years older than officially reported
Makes the u19 WC a bit of a farce if age fraud is taking place. Rashid Khan and majuub are the current lot of cricketers where you suspect their age is a lot older than reported.
Nonetheless makes Afridi's contributions later in his career greater.

Farce is the only word for it. How f&$£*& difficult is it to ensure a players age?
Very easy when some countries don’t have birth registers or common for people to now have passports etc and even if needed for a sporting event to represent your country do you think some countries would do back ground checks if there economy etc doesn’t allow it or the process isn’t even there

Pretty difficult if their from somewhere that doesn’t keep good birth records.
-
It's not easy to keep birth date track when we talk about 20 or so years ago in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan,India and many neighboring countries.
It was midwife's word you have to believe and even she didn't have official register but just a guess or day depending on moon position (whatever it's called)
-
My team has a lot of Pakistani players and def one I know does not know his actual age because there were no records in his village. We joke about it, as I understand it from the guys in my team it’s not unusual for there to be no record as we(English people) would understand it-a birth certificate.

Nothing like a quick bit of sweeping generalisation is there ;)
