Who makes these bats? Had a look thru the search engine, some said malik?
Reason I ask, I saw a boom boom 175 ( blue sticker, think accelerator ? ) on Sunday. Was superb. 2-11, minimum 40mm edges, no concaving, beautifully finished with 11 straight even grains. Was a stunning looking bat.
-
im pretty sure they are pakistani made, but not sure who by
-
I know that the softs used to be made in Pakistan but are now made in India so maybe the bats are made in India now aswell
-
Last year bats, pads and gloves were made by Ihsan.
This year I'm sure softs are made in India and I think it is by SS while I believe bats are made at same place as well.
-
I think the bats are made at SS. The softs are Indian made as well but not SS I think.
-
It doesn't make sense if you get bats made from one place and softs from another.
Where ever Puma are made Boom Boom are made at same place. Someone said Puma are made at SS so Boom Boom are made at SS as well.
The knee cap on SS pads and Boom Boom pads is exactly same so thats why I said SS

Ask Asad bhai or Mike.
-
Does anyone on the forum actually own one? Ive heard about these bats but have yet to see one.
They do sound like like monster bats.
-
One of the lads was carrying one of these round in a bat cover inside the original box and i'm sure there was an Ihsan logo on the box next to the BoomBoom one. Same manufacturers?
-

I asked both of them a while while ago mate :)

That one is last years model when Ihsan made there stuff.
-
I had a Boom Boom from last year, looked amazing but was pressed badly and was too hard, this years bats are made by SS.
-
I hear the pro's bats are going to be Made in England.
-
Maybe, but then so are a lot of Pro's bats.
-
Yes indeed many Pro bats are made in the UK every year but I have no figure on how many are rejected.

Until last year their bats were made by Ihsan and this year they are made by SS.

A pro can make an ordinary bat perform as good as any other bat. Does more grains on a bat make it a "pro" bat.

I have no idea Asad as Pro's never mention grains to me. They either like the bat they pick up or reject it.
-
I 100% agree with you, all the pros i know never looked at the grains, their main criteria is
pick up(balance) and softness of the willow.

Asad

softness of willow? really?
I thought it would be rebound qualities and extra light weight clefts, as well as pick up and middle position.

Most of Afridi's bats uptil the World Cup were SS and Abdul Razzaq's were AS.
-
Abdul Razzaq has been with AS for a long time.
Whenever Shahid Afridi goes to India he get his hands on SS bats, maybe he goes to factory.
-
When Pakistan team was here for the test series, I provided plain bats to few players.

Giving bats away to players is easy, making to their personal spec's is hard, have had county players fighting over a bat or 2 which seems to be a good sign to me. Every player is different, some simply don't really care, some are complete nerd's and the rest in between.
I sold bats to a senior Pakistani player last year who was a pleasure to deal with, tried to help a county second team reject this season and he was a nightmare, he didn't have a clue about the style, weight or build of his bats yet claimed to be very fussy, all he wanted was new stickers to show he was a sponsored player and put them on his old bats.
It would be very simplistic to group "Pro's" together, I like dealing with them as I like the kudos.
-
Of all the bats you have made or had made Mike, who was the most fussiest customer ?
-
Apparently one of Amir's Boom Boom bats has made it's way to my club. Not that Amir needs it now... Possibly through Mr. Hosk? Guy used it last night, sounded pretty sweet, but a bit bottom heavy pickup and not outstanding willow, but did go the distance when asked!
-
100 not out.

Does it cheat when asked too?
-
lad at our club acquired a Boom Boom from our good friend Will Bragg (Glamorgan) but i'm not sure where it originated from.
he's a textbook blocker so it's a bit wasted on him.

MGM sports at the Swalec sell them

No, just the most exacting.....
-

Haha not yet, assuming the edges might be non stick as is tradition in Pakistan wicketkeeping
-
My cousin got an Accelerator 175 and the softs too. Bat is outstanding, ping is incredible. Softs are very light but a bit too futuristic for me and I would prefer Pittards palms but they are very comfortable.
-
Has anyone got a recent, SS made Boom Boom? I reserved one at our local shop until a bank transfer clears. 2.10, nice pick up, mid to low middle, 8 grains and a massive profile. I'm happy with it :)
-
I take it globe have had a new batch in then as there was only gm's, kooks and adidas bats in there a month ago. Not sure if my mate has used his yet, but like I said in the opening post it was a stunning looking bat.

Is it made from a Pro Cleft ? I know of late some of their Pro's have requested bats made from Pro Clefts.

that profile looks spot on........ LOVE IT

Thanks CD. The one I picked had a slightly lower middle I think and was 2 oz more but a similar size.

Yeah Globe had 3 GM Icons, all 606s and few Lunas and a couple of Apexs. Not much of a range and when I asked when they'd get some more GM Icons in they said not until November.

GM are flat out at the moment, I placed my order with them last week and I'm looking at 2/3 weeks.
-
A guy from GM was in the shop at the time, not sure who but seemed to have one of the infamous striped shirts on and whispered to me "GM Icon, GM Icon" :L
-
Are you still using the SAF Bat you had?
-
Yes, will be passing it onto Tom who said he's get it to Andy.
