Hi Fellas,
As a few of you may know I asked Mike to get me a bat copied a few weeks back. Well, it has finally arrived so I thought I would stick up some pics for you!
Weight is 2lb 11oz and it picks up very lightly, feels more like 2lb 9oz to me. It's made from an oversized cleft which was the only way to go in order to replicate the bat it is a copy of. It's also got a very specially shaped handle on it which you can't really see from the pics but it's identical to the original. Having had a brief tap up tonight with the mallet I can safely say the middle is huge! It's a very, very fine piece of work so needless to say I'm made up! The original bat can be found here :- http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=6670.630 (M&H Custom)
Just like to say thanks to 100 not out for having the foresight to get the original made in the first place! and to Petehosk (the original bats current owner) for allowing me to copy it and basically getting it all sorted for me!
P.S. No fluffy rug but a nice bit of patchwork for you....handmade as well....
Not really one for the big edge lovers but I think it looks pretty sweet!

Looks very nice, is the perfect storm extreme "better" than the perfect storm then?
-
Ridiculous :D
-
Love it! Nice to see a bat with a high spine. Loads of bats now have massive edges and low spines, I much prefer this shape :D
-
Looks awesome. I want one...

Hahaha I don't think the 'extreme' signifies anything in terms of quality I think it's more a reference to the profile!

Totally agree, never really got the massive edges thing, I want the meat of the bat in the middle of it which is why I think I fell in love with the original....
-
Very impressive bat! What's the concaving like? Looks like there's a bit on the toe at least but the spine's so steep its hard to tell!! :)
-
Looks lovely,
Whats so special about the handle? Is it just a thick oval handle?
-
Looks a wonderful piece of willow that mate :)
Hope you get on really well with it mate :D
-
Now that's what I call ruler straight grains!!!
Love the bat shape too, looks like a perfect copy of Mr.Hosk's M&H
-
love it, not to disimilar to my numero uno.....
although mines not as 'EXTREME' as this

It starts off round then moves into a small oval then near the bottom it goes into quite an extreme oval/almost diamond shape. From what I can gather the handle was the trickiest thing to get copied as only 1 person can actually do it...

both bats felt pretty decent when i picked them both up :) good use of an oversized cleft id say!
-
Is it me or are the shoulders of the bat wonky?
-
Just you. It's the stickers.

Tom stop showing off :)
were they both the same weight?
-
Good to know.

Nice to know it gets a pro's seal of approval! I just loved the original and Pete said Mike could get me one made so I went for it. I think Mike's is even bigger than mine though....2'14 ish???
-
not sure i saw that one, saw the M&H though and tried to smuggle it into the office....along with yours ;) lol
im down to 2 bats now and one needs knocking in so u were lucky!!

I'm sure Mike can sort you out with one.... ;) He might even let you put Ayrtek stickers on it! :D
-
haha highly doubtful he does nothing but abuse our stickers ;) no more bats need to fund wedding.....must drill it into myself otherwise ill be in trouble!
-
Lovely looking bat mate, hope it scores loads of runs for you. I love the shape of the toe, thick and the spine running all the way down. Out of interest, how big are the edges because they do look quite thick to me.
-
Looks lovely!! I take the handle is like Laver & Wood handles!
Bat looks amazing? I'm not a good judger but where is sweetspot? High? Los?

I haven't measured them but they are about 35mm width i'd guess. I think the one Mike had done for himself has even bigger edges though..

The whole thing with this profile is that due to the high spine the middle is pretty much all the way down the face of the bat, the trade off is that it is a little narrower although I can't say I have noticed that yet, at least not off the mallet! If it's anything like the original it's hard to miss the middle!

Hmmm I feel your pain! You could sneak it onto the wedding list though! :D
-
Just wanted to say that the copy was identical to the original bat!
I was expecting some differences.....but you'd need to go over it with a fine tooth comb to find anything! And even then, it would be a challenge!

Send it my way! I am doing Gareth's new bats so might as well do both at the same time....
-
I hope you enjoy getting masses of runs with it. I had to talk pete into buying that bat off me. i bet he's glad he did.
Does look very similar to me . . .
-
Thanks for getting the original made, still can't quite believe you sold it! Pete reckons they are identical and the pressing on it is superb so I can only hope it will perform as well as your old one...just got to knock it in now... >:(
-
100no sold it due to it being a little too heavy.
But nothing that a month in the gym wouldn't have sorted out fella! ;)
-
too lazy for that fella. . . .im moving down to 2lb 9/10 now. . . .the original was 2lb 13ish. . . but did pick up excceptionally well.
you used it yet Mr Hosk??
-
Only got it back recently! But will be using it soon for sure!
Another few pics from my iphone...............

Wow! If only mike replied sooner I might have had something like this...
-
Looks great. Mike said he had a 2.5 for me but never got back to me with pics but I know hear he is very busy. Hopefully I get on well with a heavier bat and get something more like this beauty in the future.
-
The grains on your floor look lovely and straight :P
-
Marvellous looking bats!
Mike is really in demand it seems.
The man knows his wood.
I still think he should have called his brand "BRIMBLE"
:)
