Title: SS Gladiators or other options
Post by: thecord on June 03, 2011, 11:15:14 AM
I tried on a pair of SS Gladiator batting gloves on a recent visit to Uzi Sports and they felt like an absolute dream! Putting my hands into other gloves after these they all felt as though they were lined with sandapaper!
Has anyone used these gloves and how did you get on with them?
I particularly liked the pittards palms, does anyone have any other recommendations with these that I should take a look at before investing my hard earned?

Were the SS made with Pittard's as I see that they are not using it on their own gloves much now?

I'd say in my opinion that nothing beats Pittard's Cougar for softness, and of course they will stay softer and wear better than any normal leather.

Who uses Pittards cougar in their gloves talisman?

It looks like Pittard's Digital cut, many top of the range gloves use Cougar, just do a little research into the top of the range from the normal big brands. I have 2 brand new bagged sets of Bradbury's here for sale at £40 posted with Cougar leather.

I don't have any left hand, try Instinct or someone else who has stock of Cougar palms in L/H.

Half of the SS range we carry have pittard palm and same Pittard is used on Newbery, Puma and other companies gloves they made

if you are looking for left handed gloves, I have the ICE version of these

and they are excellent and reasonable with cougar palms - not sure about the orange though...

Mike, or anyone else... What's the difference between the digital cougar palms and standard?

i believe it's just a different pattern that's cut into the leather.

The SS are the best gloves I have tried and reasonably priced. They do have genuine pittards in the top end models.

I believe there are subtle differences in terms of grip and how much moisture can be absorbed by the leather. The digital has more grip and Cougar has greater longevity, or something along those lines.

SS Gladiator are similar to SS Millennium Pro gloves both have same palm cougar palm is one on Puma Kinetic gloves. I believe difference is thickness of the palm because when you wear both you can feel it, but Mike will be best to answer this.

If you want to spend top buck go for Salix Pod Black.

The cut pattern affects the grip on the handle but will feel the same on the inside to your hand.

I wouldn't bother with a glove without Pittard's myself, it's not rare or hard to find but performs and feels so much better than standard leather.

Heading up to Uzisports tomorrow to finally take the plunge on this one. Think it's between ss gladiators and ss matrix 2010s but I will see what goodies Asad has that take my fancy.
