Was chatting at the weekend during our game as I play alongside an ex county player who's now part of county staff and a current county player about helmets. During the conversation it cropped up that the county in question had asked players to stop wearing a certain well known brand helmet as they felt they weren't up to scratch in terms of first class protection. Thought this would be interesting for a few on here given that Ayrtek are amongst most topics on here!

Wasn't going to say the name as you never know who reads these forums, but Colesy seems to have hit the nail on head rather bluntly!

-

Calum Ferguson incident off Saj Mahmood in the Big Bash a prime example.
-
Didnt one of the somerset boys get his chin busted open wearing one a few days ago
-
Neil Carter had a little trip to hospital after a bouncer in the T20 friday. Not wearing an ayrtek either.
-
Best way of using a helmet imo is to not use it at all. Don't get hit and you won't get hurt :D

This came up a while ago, I THINK it was Warks/Derbs that said they would not let masuri be used.
I am not facing 80 every week so I am sure it will be OK. And there may be a reason Broad is using an Albion, just as there must be a reason that Sanga is not using his Ayrtek

I think you'll find that Albion throw money at the counties and players to get their products seen, Ayrtek charge them all yet are spreading fast.

As a company we are still only finding our way in the market and as Mike says we value our product enough to feel that its worth paying for rather than getting it on heads by issuing them on mass to counties or players along with a payment to use the product.
This may mean that we loose the occasional player if we stick to this policy but as a small and relatively young company we set this policy in place from the outset.

Fair play to you Tom to sticking to your guns mate
