Title: Glove Preparation
Post by: bucko2007 on January 10, 2009, 12:26:48 PM
Is there anyway you are supposed to prepare your gloves to get them more receptive?
Whenever I have bought new gloves at first they are always very rigid, and even when trying to use soft hands the ball often just slams into th gloves without much "give". When you "break them in" they become a little easier, but still I wonder what everyone else thinks and if there is some formal way of making the gloves more receptive?
When going to see games and seeing the pros warming up, their gloves seem so loose and receptive, like the ball just gets engulfed by them....

obviously they'd have to be in a scrunched shape, the pressure is constant, and will loosen the rubber and leather making it more supple. it's what i do with all my gloves

That actually sounds like a plan...

I was thinking that... They are always very rigid at first and hurt the ends of ur fingers wen u try and grip the bat fully

I can remember watching a very good local keeper preping his brand new gloves.... he was belting them with a cricket bat mallet.... I was very suprised but I suppose he was trying to soften them up not wanting to go into a Prem game with rockhard gloves.
