this came up at nets last night and I have always wondered what impact a logo or bat stickers etc from a company have on your decision to purchase? do you look at a bat and think great willow, shame about the stickers or do you buy based on the overall package?
-
Practically zero impact on my decision. After all it is simple enough to remove the stickers if they offend you that much.
-
I think most people will do the reverse - happy to buy a lovely looking bat with terrible stickers - but also there are a huge number of people who will buy a bat that looks pretty average because of the stickers/brand - three brands leap to mind for this...

Speaking to one of the kids I coach the other week, he was wielding a top of the range Pellara that had an ugly looking crack in it. He told me he was getting a new one that week, I asked him what he was getting and he said 'Another Pellara' - I asked him why he had chosen that particular bat - the answer was 'I think the stickers look cool'

which brands?

i only got a h4l cos i love the branding.. and the fact everybody said they where good... my bat is not a looker grains wise but it an awsome bat!
-
good to see a mix of replies. some people want their kit to perform whilst others want it to make them look good. i think i have been guilty ( when younger) of going for the brands my favourite player used not really focusing on the fact it looked rubbish or had a massive knot in the middle. thats definately changed

There would be no stickers and no changing of design every year if they had no impact.
I'm drawn to well thought out and designed stickers, they complement a bat and can enhance it's shape when done well.

Quite, and how many people on here have commented on H4L, and had comments on them? Its probably one of the most talked about sticker sets, or the Puma by Millichamp ones?
-
Definitely plays a huge part in which bat I buy. Probably just as much as the shape.

And which brands have the most eye-catching, avant-garde stickers at the moment?
-
Kicking Horse, effing awesome bats. Far too much money for their bats but they offer a few full sponsorship deals for free to club cricketers.
-
I'm quite excited by the kicking horse brand, I'm in talks with them about sponsoring my batting academy.

Don't know about the top grade ones, but the low grade ones I got were very good, and the stickers are certainly 'noticeable'.
I'm trying to get pics of their 'Long Schlong' T20 bats - have you seen one?

You can get sponsorship? Their CEO wouldn't give it to me - he said i was too fat!

I know he reads the forum so maybe worth putting a plea out directly to him, or of course since you know him anyone wanting to be considered could send their CV to you via pm.
Is one model called the Donkeys D***?
-
No - that's the model name for their Kevlar Boxes you wally!
-
So is there one called Hung?
-
as far as I am aware the name are a little less sensational, due to my Epsom heritage, I am getting the shergar model or something.
I'll have a word to my contact and revert.

It always puzzles me when young guys at my club go round with an Adidas in their hands grinning from ear to ear, boasting about how the stickers look cool and KP uses the same bat.
And then I tell them it's Kashmir and they go "what's that?"
My Millichamp is a beast. Great grains. Ping, and I think the stickers are pretty classic too!
-
Stickers are secondary to me, if I find a bat that I like I will use it regardless of the stickers
-
ive not seen many adidas bats up close but the ones i have seen havent been anything special. i guess the sticker just takes the emphasis of the willow. in some cases this could be a good thing!
