Get your back foot across to the ball and play it late, hit down on the ball. Aim between point and gully, maybe cover to point if it's a slow deck or bowler. To many people don't move their feet and "throw" the hands at the ball, with it ending up at extra cover. I would also say have your weight going forwards and towards the ball. To many people "make room" and either end up off balance, missing it or even worse, hitting the ball upwards (because they are leaning back).

Always be wary of a girl that can cut and pull well. ;)

if you are cutting the ball off the toe there is a good chance you should be leaving the ball and getting a wide.

that shouldn't take away from the good tips on technique above.

Hit the ball as hard as you can just in front of point. Come from high to low, rolling your wrists is pish.

Based on last night's failure to play the cut shot, please can I have some advice.

Stuff that's going on:

1. When the ball is short outside off, I fail to get the bat anywhere near it.
2. I am trying to smash the hide off the ball, which will be throwing my timing totally.

Any advice is welcome as this would be a most productive shot to have in the t20 arsenal and I don't want to have to learn to reverse sweep.

Sounds like the track is not quick enough this time of the year for the cut shot so best just run the ball down to 3rd man area for 1's and 2's all evening long.
