Title: Cricket Addiction?
Post by: Mr Cricket on June 21, 2011, 09:26:31 PM
Has anyone ever suffered from this?

I think i have been for the past two or three seasons, i cannot switch off from cricket, and i am so mentally fatigued right now that the thought of any more cricket after the last few weeks where i have played most days makes me feel a bit sick... but i cant think about anything else than wanting to play, very odd, but i cannot remove myself from the game.

sypmtoms i have recognised include:

-struggling to put poor performances behind yourself
-thinking about cricket 24/7
-trying to play more than you are physically capable of
-being unable to turn down a game
-becoming angry and perhaps saying things you shouldnt (i.e. while in the field)
-buying new kit frequently
-depression during winter
-anxiety during games
-arriving first and leaving last
-watching when not playing
-use of this forum every single day

and it all amounts to pressure on yourself.

anyone suffer with this sort of thing?
is it just me?
has anyone managed to overcome this?

wow, I thought I was the only one.

-hoping all week that the weather will be nice for matchday, and if it's not be really annoyed all day.

Sadly been very busy with exams etc so it's frustrating I can't play as much :-(

Nice of my phone to put an i instead of an o but good to see that the word is not automatically banned!

Wow, you have literally described my life. I agree with all of the points except the last one, but cricket related websites in general for me. I usually play 3 games a weekend as long as I get picked as I always make myself available.

Last year, after the 2009 season, I started indoor a month after the season and needed a break a couple of weeks into the 2010 season.

This year I didn't start training again till April and filled the time with coaching at the academy I had attended the winter before. I was still involved in cricket, but in a more relaxed manor

I'd imagine that most forum members exhibit a number of these symptoms. As I am now on an enforced break, I shall have to get the camera out instead...
