When under my masuri i get extremely hot! And can feel the heat on the sides of my head just inside the ear pads.
Do you think taking out the ear pads would make it cooler for me under my lid?
-
Possibly mate. Try it without, but keep pads incase you ant to use them again
-
Do you have steam coming out of your ears ??? may well give you some more ventilation but with a 15mm thick shell on your bonce its going to insulate the heat pretty well
-
Cheers will try a net without them tonight and see how it goes :)

How did it go buddy?

Great topic guys.. I was wondering exactly the same thing as looking to buy a different brand titanium grill which most likely will come without pads. Also, Alistair Cook in the 1 day today against Sri Lanka isn't wearing them either.. i'll try it out to see if makes any difference to keeper cooler because on a hot day, i'm sweating buckets from the head area. Already tried a tennis headband which wouldn't allow the helmet to sit properly...

Its still very warm under my lid when playin g a long innings, but it seems a lot better :)
Got into the habit of taking my lid off between every over though now

Right... so i've tracked down a much thinner headband which is specially designed for use under helmets e.g. work, bicycle etc. to stop sweat running down into the eyes. Ordered one via e-bay and went for the headband rather than the bandana types so I can lose heat off the top of my head.. made by 'Halo' and from the USA. Think it's costing me £10 all in with the postage. Will collect when next back in the UK so won't be able to post any trials for a while...
