Title: My New Mids ZH Power!
Post by: qalib13 on June 24, 2011, 11:19:52 AM
Hey Guys,

I did a really bad thing, I bought a new bat (shame on me). ;) Well I dont think we have had one of these on here so I thought I'd post the first one. It's a Mids ZH Power, it weighs just over 2lbs 9oz and it's got 16 grains. the grains aren't perfectly ruler straight or even spaced but they still look good to me. I'm always vary about getting bats from the subcontinent but as I've had that many, I know you do get some quality bats. Believe me you can find some real gems, you just have to sift though the muck.

Anyway let me know what you guys think.

PS sorry  for the picture quality, my camera is on the blink so had to use my iphone.

They are made in pakistan, in sialkot. Mids have been making bats for quite some time. Mr Lekka, I can assure you its not a re stickered bat, i got through a friend who gets lots of bats from pakistan for his shop in manchester.

Which stickers are missing then from the back of the bat ?

The finish looks atrocious.

I forgot to add , the OP purchased a new bat without a grip !

I hear Lekka make useable grips... ;) he might need one for this bat - I think the black and white one will work well !!!

P.S. I love the way the toe guard has been filed and the MIDS has been written in by hand!!

P.P.S I hope that bat is a real go-er for you by the way :)

They come with a large ugly sticker on the back. I took mine off & I assume qalib13 did the same.

I've lifted the grains a little so It needs a light sanding to tidy it up

Nice shape. Do they all look like they've had the ronseal treatment?

How much did you pay for this mate

Heard alot of good things about this company

I took the grip off myself, it wasn't very nice so I will be adding a new spiral grip. there was a sticker on the back which I removed myself. Like will stated it is very ugly and just too busy, so I removed and it just gripped some of the wood. I'll be sanding before match use.

In case Mr Lekka doesn't believe me here's the sticker. So much contempt in your voice, for anyone else's products, its not a good look. You should really have someone look into that. You must be a glass half empty guy. :)

I paid £100 for it, not bad considering its a good quality bat. They retail around £170 but I got a good deal through my mate.I've had a few mids but that was back in the day and they were only second to CA bats from Pakistan. This is the first one i've had in over 15 years and they haven't lost the performance.

I personally would have kept the sticker on for comedy value - I am from Portsmouth and the word 'din' is a common used slag word down there.

Can't argue for £100 I suppose mate eh?

He has used MIDS gloves extensively. Not too sure about the pads.

Incorrect, his Sky Blue gloves are SF with the Ultralite and SF logos covered and you can plainly see the SS green pads.

There is a difference between extensive use and exclusive use so you are incorrect I am afraid

Thanks CD, I didn't really need a new bat as my praesantia is still firing on all cylinders, but I was getting a really good deal so I bought it. Suffice to say I'm extremely pleased with the performance. :D

Former 1s skipper at my club has a MIDS bat.
It's 2.12 but I've picked it up and it feels OK for the weight, nothing like my Redback on which the pickup was superb, but still it was decent.
And my the bat goes. He hardly touches it and the ball is racing to the boundary. A cracking bat!
Hope you get on well with this one Opener, I had a look at their website and for the price it seems a good punt... :)

Cracking bat or cracking batsman?

Cracking bat or cracking batsman?

A combination of both mate. He's a phenomenal batsman. Last Saturday he took apart Harrow Town on his own.
They were 60-6 after about 25 overs and he came in and hit 109 off about 60 balls with a bad back. 13 6s.
Says it all really. :D
He admits the bat is a weapon but he is a good batsman good enough to use it! :)
Lovely bat though, I'd happily use it!!!!!! :D

Not sure I want to be doing this.... but....

Firstly from what I can see the gloves are not the same as the guy is wearing in any of the 2 pictures...

Secondly I agree with this... there google sites, done badly, it must be the same guy?! Or at least theres a bloody good chance of it.

They are the same bloke - nothing but trouble. Although he did get my mate a good bat (eventually) but a few have been stung by him on more than once occasion.
