Title: Nic Pothas' Newbery Keeping Gloves
Post by: justnotcricket86 on June 30, 2011, 08:11:48 PM
Currently watching Hampshire piss all over Kent (which I am rather enjoying being a Royals fan) and have been admiring Skeg's keeping gloves...can't find them anywhere. Anyone know where you can get them from?

Not going to buy them...just being a gear head...

Cheers

Definitely player issue!

Like the majority of gear the pros wear, the public will find it hard to get hold of. If only brands knew there is a demand for pro issue equipment!

I suspect brands keep them as Pro issue products only so when they do end up on ebay people will know they are the real deal (that is if they ever end up on ebay or a private charity auction).

The other reason could be to test the waters and then release them in the southern hemisphere in a few months.

I assumed they would be player issue or something like that. Given they are blue and yellow which are the Royals colours...

Also noticed Andy Hodd's gloves the other day. They look like Kook silvers...but on closer inspection are obviously customs with the Kook labelling.

Maybe Nic is going back to his original 1st class colours when he played for Transvaal in the early 90's (Blue and yellow).

either way they are really nice - very under-rated keeper in my opinion. you don't get to keep to Warne for years without being tasty

Warne said Pothas was the best keeper he'd ever bowled to - high praise, when you see Healy, Gilchrist, etc...

That would have to be the highlight of my career...Warne saying that given who's kept to him

Nice keeper for sure ........ I had him in one ear and Jimmy Cook in the other in the early 90's when Eksteen was bowling and screaming for all decisions. We got the draw and the RAU students were a good bunch but Jimmy and Eksteen were not so friendly. We had our 2 Castle Lagers each and left.
