Folks, a heads up, we are besieged just at the moment with counterfeit bats and stickers coming from India and Pakistan, increasingly available through the net. Be warned!
(1) If a bat looks too good to be true, it probably is. Like, we haven't made it!
(2) If you can buy stickers on the net, they will be counterfeit.
If you see any unusual looking "GM" bats or prices, please feel free to let me know on elowy@unicorngroup.com
Kind regards
Edward

loads of bats on ebay with fake stickers!! should all be shot!
-
I think all stickers sales should be banned,if you buy a GM,Puma,GN or what ever, why do you then want to turn around and pretend its something else, its only to decieve,i dont think anyone on here would remove stickers on a top maker to put on a brand that is not so respected even though the stickers may look better!!If you want original stickers because you have refurbed a bat yourself take/send the bat to the maker to have them applied and returned to you!!
I know people on here will say i like the bat but the stickers are awful so i want to replace them.I realy like the Laver or M&H or what ever stickers so whats the harm as i am not planning to sell the bat
What is everyone elses opinion?
-
if u buy a bat and hate the stickers change them simple as!
-
I have no problem selling cricket bat stickers (originals that is but never fakes).

Would that be your own brand or any brand

But you just said "loads of bats on ebay with fake stickers!! should all be shot!"
so its ok with you as long as the stickers are original, even though it could be a crap bat with an expensive makers stickers?
But if you really like the stickers but cant get original??
Sorry if it sounds like i want an argument,
-
noooo
selling bats with fake stickers claming them to be orginal is bad news. thats what i was getting at in the 1st post.
restickering bats with genuine stickers i think is fine. ive restickered a few bats with fake stickers before just because they looked awfull. but would never sell them on as reall bats.
-
Yes,but the person you sell it to,or the one after that?can you guarantee it doesn't go on sale as original.
You load the gun,but someone else fires the shot!!
I think you are missing the point,
a crap bat restickered with original stickers is just as bad in my book as someone will be expecting a decent performing bat
Sorry Simmy,i am not having a pop at you personaly :)
-
Would that be your own brand or any brand
Both.

Did you sticker up the lam you currently have on sale or did you purchase it stickered up ?
-
I saw some original newbery krackatoa stickers on here the other day, i could buy those and put them on a bat from ebay that i pay a tenner for (example), use it in a couple of matches and "not get on with it" so put it for sale (seemingly a £180 bat) for whatever it sells for £120+ i would imagine
Or do the same with lekka stickers, everyone that sees it in a match or picks it up, thinks good grief what a plank are all lekkas the same?
your product would soon get a bad reputation as no-one would want to take the risk of ending up with a simular bat

Very good points but I only sell my own brand stickers which will never be applied to bats supplied by the Alliance.
-
If uv typed that correctly...u only sell ur stickers that never go on ur bats?
Surely u mean u only sell ur sticekrs to go on ur own bats at which point there is no guarantee they will ???

I take it that "Own brand stickers" does not equal "Lekka stickers"...
-
Thank you Tom but I'm sure I know what I mean which is the reason I made the post :) btw, conclusion jumping can be dangerous.
-
So you only sell stickers that go onto other peoples bats!!!
Sounds a bit odd to me...but then i havent got a global brand like yours so perhaps im behind the times

Correct

-
i like the fact he states its dirty due to be stored for a while. surely if the bats that good the seller would think ill give it a light sand and an oil before i sell it and get full value for it! i think thats got to be one of the worst fakes ive seen.
-
Please also note he has not stated what type of willow has been used for this hand crafted bat.

yeah i looked at the webby, possibly the worst website i have seen in terms of products on it (both quality and amount!)
-
Fingers crossed no poor unsuspecting cricket fan falls for this rubbish, the bats look like skirting board ffs how can they get away with it???
-
I personally quite fancy a Kokaburra Ice.... http://www.cricketown.co.uk/upload/index.php?route=product/product&path=79_81&product_id=54
-
It's not even close though. They're on ebay as well. Poor sods!
-
Love the Company slogan as well 'we are all in this together'
If you bought the Kokabura would you take advantage of the knocking in and oiling service for £15??
-
possibly the worst fake bat ever made!

Hi Edward
Why don't GM sell their bat stickers to retailors and then people won't need to buy fake stickers?

erm, because then people would buy those stickers and stick them on any old plank of Kashmir?

That makes sense ;)
-
Or would still want cheaper stickers... Counterfeit!!!
-
These type of counterfeit bats are very easy to spot on the web. Most of them for a start are an indian seller and there are a few labels that are missing when compared to the genuine article. From what I have seen there is no GM now label , no conforms to the laws of cricket label and most of the time no toetek label or model or grade sticker. I must admit that we do not have some of these labels on the Australian GM bats as our retailers prefer to offer a natural finish product but a fake is easy to spot. It is just a shame that we live in a world where parelell imports are accepted in some countries meaning a traditional brand like Gunn & Moore is left vunerable to forgery and fake product being available. I hope that for your company Ed that these people are delt with in the appropriate way.

Do GM make English willow bats in India? Or are all their English willow bats made in the UK?
-
Yes, they have a licence to make bats in India as well. So their are GM bats made in India, i think for the Indian market.
-
I have 4 here that are English Willow made in under under license in India. That's what it says on the stickers anyway and they all have a hologram sticker. They are wrapped in plastic with GM booklets on the handle. So I'm guessing these are real. The grains on 3 of them are absolutely magnificent. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks mate for your help.
