think he means the bat performs well, but what appear to be grains are actually like a covering or like a face on the bat with grains on but not the actual wood, if that makes anymore sense?

Agreed. However, at least he is making an effort. Maybe with time, he will learn the ways  :)

Maybe with time Nick you will come to know that bat face sheets are now available with grains already printed under surface.

Thank you James, I thought that might have been what he meant. I also thought that when he said had anyone seen it, I thought he might have lost it.

I'd cut the guy some slack as it's not like he could be Mark Tait (http://www.city-data.com/forum/attachments/san-antonio/22573d1215184608-recommend-good-beer-beer-smiley.gif)

OK, I hope the bat goes well for you. Would that be because it's a kashmir bat with not so good grains underneath. I'm sure that even if it is, it will be a decent bat.

I have no idea what variant of willow has been purchased but I'm sure he will post a full review along with pics not taken from a camera phone.
