Title: GM Maestro

Hi guys, I'm currently refurbing my cousins old GM Maestro Premier, can anybody tell me much about it? Like, willow grade? And what sort of era we're talking? Cheers in advance!

Don't tell Buzz... Maestro is mid-late eighties/early nineties GM. Mike Gatting used one against THAT ball...

This image has the early nineties stickering (similar to my Diamond) rather than the more classic mid eighties stickering.

Maestro did survive to the late 90's with Vaughan/Tresco era stickering.

At the time GM's colour schemes changed according to the grade of the bat as opposed to the, model, so the Originals all had marooney/red trim, then I think the next grade down was 'Professional' which had goldy colour, then 'Premier' with blue trim and bottom was 'Superstar' in Yellow (if I'm remembering right!?) This was from my days at college as myself and a few mates had GM bats, so you're looking at around 1998/1999.

I might have 'Professional' and 'Premier' the wrong way round in my grading hierarchy??

My Premier has the blue trim on it, so I'd believe that you're right Johnny!

So I've been refurbing the Maestro for the afternoon whilst watching England give India a bit of a battering... I've got no before pics but it's in a sort of during/after stage, getting towards the end of it. It was in a pretty grubby state when my cousin gave to me, with bat tape and oil all over the place. It was stained pretty dark, and by the looks of it there was some heartwood down the side that hasn't sanded too well. Also couldn't get too close to the stickers with the sandpaper for fear of ripping them, they're only paper ones after all!

Also, I can't get rid of some of the marks on there, and that involved practically burning all the way through my hand trying to sand them down! I'm out of ideas on it. Anyone?
