Anyone ever snapped their ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in their knee before? I've done it and debating whether to play on it with a leg brace in the 3rd team!
-
Your mad if you do

Do not play. I did mine playing a pull shot and my leg not swivelling, I was out for 9 months but it's seriously not worth playing.

Ive had a second degree tear on my medial knee ligament and also a light tear on my cruiciate. The pain is bearable, especially if you stretch enough before, its not easy though, and i wouldnt recommend it. However a decent brace and your OK, you wont have full mobility in the field, but enough to get you through a less than tough game.
How painfull is it when you are just sitting?

Iv snapped my ACL in both knees playing footy and with the 5 operations and 12 months of physio on 2 separate occasions to get back to fitness (or enough to play cricket again) i wouldnt risk it!
You will end up need major knee reconstruction like i did if you mess with it as you will teat your cartilage and end up either locking your knee out completely or having issues when walking/running with it causing bone to bone rubbing

I had a grade 2 tear in my ACL and interior meniscus while playing football, never wanted a surgery so after looking for an alternative found a genius "Dr. Jatin Chaudhary".
This is the same guy who treated Yuvraj Singh for his ACL without Surgery. There are plenty of sports persons including Tendulkar, Irfan Pathan ( met myself in clinic ) who are in regular touch with Jatin for their niggles.
The treatment is known as Spiral Therapy.
There are just a handful of doctors practicing Spiral therapy, or Ingham’s Method as it is also known. Being a practioner requires a PHD and many years of medical study. Dr. Jatin Chaudhry is one of the few, and he has worked hard at establishing and popularizing this Korean therapy which is basically regeneration of cells, where the pulse of the patient is first found and then various points identified which are then in turn stimulated using needles, current and laser treatments apart from various other painless mechanisms.
I had to stay three weeks in Delhi and undergo a strenuous schedule which involved treatment and several exercises. Since then, I have been playing cricket non-stop without problems.

very intresting but i bet it was not cheap!

No it is not at all expensive. Jatin charges equal fee from everyone. He has patients from all age groups including old, disables , rich and poor.
The only downside is that it takes time to get an appointment and also wait for long hours during the treatment for the turn.

Did mine whilst running into bowl, jumped off my right leg just as my foot went into a small indentation on the ground. Ouch it hurts.
That was 16 years ago though - had a reconstruction and had no real problems playing cricket since.
Would say it depends on what brace you are using. If it's been supplied by the hospital, it's very strong and it can stop your knee moving sideways then maybe. If you've bought a support from Argos - then 100% no.
Completely agree with Ayrtek. Your long term health is more important than playing a bit of cricket. Get your knee strong enough first - either a repair or loads of work to strengthen the surrounding muscles to give adequate support

!!!DONT DO IT!!!
It will hurt like hell playing in whatever side. Its fine when you can consciously think about every step you take, but as soon as you act on instinct and turn or try an sprint you will know about it.
-
What everyone else has said. You'd be fairly stupid for even considering it to be honest as you'll only make it worse.
-
Cheers for the help guy's missed all season with it its so annoying, just wanna play a couple of very low standard 3rd team games fielding fine leg fine leg, there's no pain on it when I sit or anything and I can run full pace as I could before but I'm well aware it takes one little tweak and its gone again, I've got a full leg brace with metal rods in the side to stop the knee from buckling, hospitals just take the piss been waiting 4 month to get seen now!
-
Yeh straight line running won't bethee issue, it when u change direction I played half a season with mine bust as was in the waiting list for the op so effectively couldn't make it any worse! Just kept collapsing and ballooning each time

Yeah mate ridiculously I've played on it just having a knock up and its buckled on me twice now, we're you in agony each time it went?
-
It wasn't a barrel of laughs put it that way!
-
Yeah thought not, I'm in so much pain when I do mine but am basically in the same boat as you, I've got nothing to lose waiting for an op so I might as well play some cricket, and if it goes again it's not that big a deal, just hurts like mad!
