Title: No more cricket for me this season!
Post by: peplow on July 17, 2011, 10:07:56 PM
My shoulder injury has finally taken a turn for the worse, i couldnt bowl or throw before and now i am finding it almost impossible to bat without pain, i have a scan booked in soon so fingers crossed it isnt too bad!

I am very very very gutted, however gotta look onwards and upwards, doing a lot of cycling to fill my time, which isnt quite the same but is very enjoyable and much better for my fitness!!

Look out for a sale and a half in the next few days!!

:( :(

Bad times nick nack!! The MRI will identify anything that's wrong with it tho and get things in motion to get it sorted

Sam, let me know what's wrong when you find out. One guy at our club has practically everything done to his shoulder so might be able to get some tips for you.

Will do mate thanks,

the nhs suck though, awaiting a phone call/letter or some form of communication from doctors or hospital. May try hurry it along with a trip to a and e if they take much longer!

No idea, its been bad for months now, i got a good few months rest and has got no better, progressively worse in fact. Cant ever remember having a bang or falling awquardly, not ruling it out, but i definately cannot remember anything like that!

More likely to be a *ahem* Over-use injury.  :P
Throwing techniques are bad for the shoulder, all that force trying to wang in a ball as hard and fast as you can, the shoulder is the only joint that may move a bit when throwing.
Mine is knackered too.
Had an ultra sound and it showed nothing.
Going to A & E won't help pal, I did the same when I couldnt move my arm to the side more than a few inches.
I have had 2 cortisone injections on the NHS and they worked wonders for me!
Keep us updated pal

Yup, best bet is to see a shoulder specialist who will be best able to diagnose you. Things move out of kilter when you throw, bowl, etc that simply don't show up on an MRI scan. A shoulder specialist will make you move and be able to see/feel what's wrong.

have you thought about seeing a Chiropractor? I went to him with a shoulder injury and it turned out id locked 2 vertibra in my neck, a few sessions later and sorted (not cheap tho)

Unlucky pal. Season over for me too (well, bowling anyway). Back is gone. Funnilly enough, had a shoulder reco, and from the lack of bowling after the reconstruction, to the 3 games a week I am doing over here, has caused my back to go. 4 - 6 weeks of core/lower back stabilising activities before I can try to bowl again. Very sucky!

Hope your shoulder gets better mate.
