Title: Hello
Post by: jamesisapayne on July 20, 2011, 01:31:06 PM
Hi there,

I've just had my account approved so I'd like to say hello to everyone.

I'm a club cricketer playing for Kilve CC in the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset Cricket League.

I'm a wicketkeeper who bats at 3 and I'm a bit of a bat nut!

Cheers, James

I know johners, I've been reading the forum for a while and it seems there are a lot of very knowledgeable people here. Seems a few enjoy talking about bats and buying them than actually playing the game!

Hi Ian. I live in Bridgwater but have played for Kilve for quite a few years now. How are you doing this season? Are you in the West Somerset or West of England leagues?

Good stuff, it's a nice ground up at Kilve. We play in the West of England League, and we're top of the Bristol and Somerset Division at the moment which is good :) How are you guys getting on? I know a few of the lads who play for Kilve and live nearer here.... Chris James etc.

Well done on being top of the league Ian, that's a very competitive league so keep up the hard work. We're top of our league too and pushing for promotion for the second successive season.

Kilve is a great ground. We're just starting to get it back in order after a few years of not having enough people/equipment. We've been very fortunate that a few younger people have moved to the village and are cricket mad.

We have quite a few youngsters playing 1st XI this year including Chris, Jay Darrell (who's been absolutely fantastic) and Will Monro. All three have a huge amount of potential and with an excellent group of u15s coming through we have a great future.

Great work! It's good to hear that everything's going well up there, we'll have to sort out a Sunday friendly at some point this year or next. Yep I know all 3 of those guys, I remember facing Jay in a youth final a couple of years ago and he was pretty nippy!

A friendly sounds great, I'm sure the lads will relish playing against you!

Jay's batting has been superb this season, and his bowling on Saturday was very good indeed. If only we could get him to cut that mullet of his!!!
