Title: New SafBats
Post by: Johnny on July 29, 2011, 11:17:18 PM
Anyone seen the Saf Announcement on Facebook. If not, here it is:

"After tireless work from Andy and lots of testing we are very proud to announce a very exciting bat line up for 2012. We aim to offer a bat to suit true batsman.

You would have seen that we have the Ultima project readied for 2012 and this allows you to pick the look, feel and name of your bat. This will be the very best on offer, as you get all this and top advice on getting the best from your bat.

The rest of the range is as follows
1) ORIGIN
2) INFINITY (plus POWER X option)
3) HADES Ltd Edition run of only 200 bats (first come basis)
4) MECH10

On top of that we have listened, we have worked at getting the things you want and WILL be producing cricket bats for the younger cricketer!

More details will come over the close of this season all the way up until November 11th 2011 when we will unveil the new bats along with the new line up in pad, gloves, and everything a true batsman will need.

From all at SafBats we thank you for your keen support of what we stand for and we are sure you will be very happy with the direction we are going in. We'll continue to work hard so you benefit and get the Cricket bat that is right for you."

Come across it last night. Like the look of that Ultima wander what the weight is.

Think I may be spending some more money with Andy.

I get the impression from the announcement that they are moving more towards stock shapes than custom mades.

Anyway, I know Colesy was disappointed with his bat, but I thought SAF looked after him in the end?

Do the bats come with straight spines now?

I thought that was a custom design for people who couldn't find the middle

Well Buzz I agree all the others I have seen on here looked spectacular but colesy's looked like it was made by an amateur and as we all know your only as good as your last innings.

I think that is way harsh.
in the world I work in past performance is a guide to future performance, whatever the regulator will say. in this case one bad Apple does not mean the tree is ruined.
either way there will be some more apples coming soon.

Wasn't that guy offered the chance to send it back or have it replaced? Did he keep it then?

Thanks Tom, Buzz etc

Whilst it isn't great to see stuff like this it is all input

Joe was refunded and given an apology. He very kindly tried it, he did and wasn't comfortable with it. I think there has been a line drawn underneath it now

We've taken certain steps to ensure all is ok from now on with a whole raft of stuff and some the things mentioned here included

Guys I've said this before. Yes I was disappointed with my bat, but this is one is over 100 that Andy has made.

I'm sure that if you were to buy an SAF bat right now you will have no problems. Andy kindly refunded me the money and as it cleared yesterday I'm off to my local shop to pick up my bat later on today (pics will be added).

Give Andy a break and stop slagging him off. It can't be easy to make custom cricket bats to the highest quality as well as having a full-time job.

Andy is a skilled bat maker with a wealth of experience!
To be fair, the likes of Andy, Matt (H4L), Gary (Redback), James (Laver) and other bat makers/ pod shavers should be given a little more respect as it's a real art form to get the balance, feel, finish and pickup right!

Cannot agree more. Yours was the first I've seen that the owner hasn't liked, and I know that there are a lot of people who don't get on with their bats, so Andy's doing a pretty good job if you ask me.

Hey I agree with all of you but I have never seen a bat that the spine was that far off centre (not even talking about the crack near the splice)... That particular bat looked like it was made by someone learning.. I have no doubt Andy makes great bats.. Whether it was refunded, replaced or whatever is beside the point.

Number4, it feels a bit like you are trolling with this comment. Andy has responded, and so has the bat recipient. It might be best to leave it at that.

To be honest I agree with Number4, why was a bat sent out with such a wonky spine?!

As I mention before various things have been addressed..

There were issues that I don't want to get into. This has all been resolved, I check all the bats that leave now!!

From what I can tell this is all sorted with Joe, the bat isn't in circulation and you can all breath a little more easily
