Right looking at keeping kit having had various requests of late.
What do you canny keepers like in terms of gloves/pads? Any designs and thought welcomed, if there are some good ones they may well get put into production :)
-
The SS Gladiator Keeping pads are quality in terms of style and a white/black glove style is always good (like the old Kookaburra Silvers).
-
Well you have to decide between gauntlets and cuff keeping gloves for a start I know I always prefered gauntlets as extra protection but others don't the gm le ones look good
Pad wise light and snug fit I always liked plus easy to clean was a must
-
Long gauntlet cut, t-webbing for the gloves mate. White and black would be a good call
Pads wise, something along the style of kookaburra neon or kahuna. Much more supple than the SS style in my opinion.
-
I see your all very technical with your terminology....iv not had a cuppa to wake myself up as yet so ill have to see what this gaunlet chat is about! i was thinking dungeons and dragons!
-
Bigger wrist bit Tom most kids ones have the cuff or small bit but look at the gm le ones they have more protection on the wrist for those lovely pitches
-
All black keeping gloves look bang tidy imo
-
will prob be baclk, silver and green to tie in with the elite range id think
-
Green Palm facing, black back, with silver logos etc. Make sure that they are not 'aussie' (short cuff) style and they should have some sort of Ayrtek cushioning, meaning that you can still feel the ball, but protects the bony bits of the hand.
-
Puma, SS, Kook are all shorter cuff tom. The gaunlet ones go slightly further up for arm. As someone said above, the GM LE ones or GN Legend are traditional english cut.
And that colour scheme sounds quite good
-
I thing with colour scheme should be White palms, Black/White back, with Green trim/piping to go with Elite Range, possibly octopus gripping on the palms and nice and affordable. Long cut wrist and forearm protection :)
-
I do like all White gloves. Think any green should be kept to a minimum unless you are going to use it for the palms.
Pads wise I'm a big fan of the puma flex techs. If you could do something similar to these I think you'd be on to a winner.

New glove samples have arrived....
-
These are looking much better than what you had before although I still think they would appeal to more customers if the amount of green was toned down a bit.
-
IMO they would look better without the green on index finger and middle finger so green on the outside and T-web.
-
Only had a few pairs dome based on something young Simmy knocked up :) think they came out quite well personally

Yes, agree with Colesy.
Any wk pads on the way?
-
When I get time yeah....which might not be for a while judging by last week!
-
not perfect looking but tbh they do look very much like my design however gay silver things on fingers not carbon fibre hahaha
-
They're nice!
Regarding pads, flat front is nice as I'd rather if I miss a ball, or one keeps low that it bounced back towards the stumps/bowler than deflected down to 3rd man/fine leg for byes.
I like a pad which wraps around my leg, currently using adidas pads which are quite stiff so hold they're shape more, looking for other pads.
I would say (am im sure its very easy :P) to try design a pad which is futureistic/not seen around before same as your helmets. Similar to Aero keeping pads.
On your keeping glove above, if they white and green were also available reversed, that would be some nice options!
-
Thanks for the feedback, very helpful stuff!
-

I was thinking black mainly and green detailing again to fit in with the colour scheme. green can be overdone imo.
-
Plain white back, green face...
Or white all over with green piping.
-
For the wrist padding, i would go with a lower profile option than the one chunky foam pad, wrist bars of foam or mini canes provide more ease of movement in my experience
-
Look sweet! Carbon fibre would be awesome haha!
-
puma pads the flextech ones
-
puma pads the flextech ones
Huh? Is that a suggestion for his pad design? ???
Would be difficult to exactly do that, but I think Puma have pretty much got that design cornered. A more traditional design would go down well I'm sure :)
-
Puma pads are a big favourite down here but the 2010/2011 GM original LE pads we used in the County set up along with the gloves and everyone loved them!!
-
I am going to be getting the GM LE gloves this year, may also get the Original pads but the instep looks a little small and I do like low sitting pads, the kook kahunas I have will probably suffice, just the straps are too long. Everyone in Oz must have huge calf muscles
-
got a set of the ayrteks on way they dont have T webbing. but i will test them out playing indoor cricket :D
-
I have a set, they seem to be good gloves from first impressions. Wouldn't expect anything less though! ;)
-
Will we be seeing reviews gents?
-
I think we should have reviewers a la Instinct gear. Seeing as that was my idea I'll take first sample ;)

When did you become a keeper Colesy?!
-
-
haha anything for some free kit!!
-
I've kept a few times but more down to begging than my talent.
-
Will we be seeing reviews gents?
Of course mate, I've kept a bit with them, but literally only max. 4 overs...
I'm gonna keep to the bowling machine with them and see what they are like. Will then get a review up as you already have pics and I've lost my camera..
-
i will do a review as well having owned lots of gloves! some i hated some i love... we shall see!!! see how they compare to oven gloves
-
got mine today quality feels really good very soft! will test them out next week and let you know how i get on. :D
-
used gloves today for first time.
so far so good
very soft and comftable big catching area well padded. actually dont mind not having T webbing got another indoor game 2night so well use them again
-
I kept with mine on the bowling machine last week and I really liked them. Lovely big catching area as Simmy said and they're very comfy too.
Spot on I'd say, design could perhaps be tweaked slightly, but this design is tops!
-
they look better in flesh. not much time went into the design tho am afraid lol
just a copy of some blank gloves i had with a few tweaks!

-
For me with that colour, less is more, How would it look for example if there was just green piping. I reckon that it would look classier, as you can't beat white for looks IMO.
-
Very true I'm a fan of mostly white keeping gloves like the GM stuff :)
Love my gloves though, they fit perfectly with a pair of half mesh half chammy inners.
Good pair of gloves looking forward to using them in some games next year when my GM Originals are spent...
-
Do people not think that plain White or nearly plain White has been done to death now though? A few years back it was quite new and fresh but now we have seen them from puma, gm, newbery, bradbury, gn, hunts, Willowstix, salix an that's just off the top of my head. I do think they look classy but there isn't a great deal of brand individuality about and I think it may be time to move in a different direction now.
-
anything in white is classy!!!

white will allways be clean simple and classy!!!
-
I some what agree with both posts above. White gloves look really classy but when everyone is doing it there's no brand identity or originality to it.
-
White/Silver has been done to death....why follow everyone else and pitch your product against theirs so your all battling for the same customer with a very similar looking product and price?

That hits the nail on the head really
-
and tbh! the softs are white and green so why should the keeping gloves not fall in with the rest of the companys colour scheme?
end of day they are quality gloves much better than what u had before.
they are a bonus to add to your range. end of day your a helmet company! everything else u decide to do is a bonus
-
Indeed mate the helmets will be the primary product we will always focus on but we wouldn't want to cheapen the brand by offering sub-standard softs/bats etc to compliment them.....we have tried to ensure that we are getting the quality and designs correct to represent the brand across the whole range.
-
found it
(http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t118/djsimmy_photos/glove2.jpg)
I like the detailing on the finger ends. Looks quite carbon fibre and that would tie in with the helmets??
-
that's simmys fetish!
-
it is!! sadley the actual gloves didnt have carbon fibre tips! i also sugested that instead of plastic in the finger ends it would be carbon. but no such luck haha
-
it was meant to be carbon but im sure on the next batch we can have this added ;)
-
wait untill i have propa tested them in games before the next lot are order! then if there is any issues we will know :D
-
sounds like a good plan to me!
-
Do you have any of these samples at your place Tom or have the all gone out for testing?
-
Still got a couple of pairs left mate....somewhere!
-
Sounds like your place is a bit like my office at home!
If you manage to find them let me know and I will pop by and take a look. I wanted to speak to you about the Premier helmets as well and I also have a good boot load of Haribo at the moment so could work out for everybody!
-
haha ok mate will track them down, I know a set are with my mate who was doing some pics for the website so have at least 1 set left!
-
If white is too boring then it has to new all out lime green, with a disgustingly bright pink would definatley be noticed, and I'd be happy to try out any prototypes...
-
If you were to get any electric blue, give me a shout.
-
The new sample looks good.
For keeping kit, I like the rounded padding around the wrist not squared off, and the gloves to have a thick layer of grip octopus style if possible! How are you keeping pads? I am a part time keeper for my village first team looking to expand and skills! I need some kit what are the prices?
Spider
-
Pads are as per website, we havent spent alot of time on our keeping kit development as there are many other brands who offer it and keepers seem to have their favourite makes etc that they swear by!
-
Watch out for Tom Steve he's a crafty one ;)
-
haha thats for the glowing reference Roco!!!
Spider happy to provide a price for the pads/gloves if your interested :)
-
I hope it's a good price he will be keeping to me next season :)
Always happy to give you a glowing reference Tom that's the problem too good customer service
-
still got a couple of the new gloves left and pads...
Customer service comes high on my priorities list as you well know :)
-
Awesomeness! i had a look at the range last night. They look good! As I am a relatively new keeper I dont have a particular favourite brand as of yet. So I maybe I can make yours the favourites! How much is it for the news sample gloves shown and a pair of pads?
Spider (Steve Gray)
-
Steve
Ill drop you an email shortly with prices
-
Awesome Thank you very much
Aaron doesn't get a percentage of the sales figures though does he.. LOL
-
definitely not...he still blames me for all his buying which puts me in the bad books with his wife!
-
Not all the blame Tom just most Pete gets the rest of the blame ;)
I look forward to seeing the stuff spider
-
Yer I am just having to save my sheets now over the next weeks so I am able to purchase it! :)
-
what are the prices for both pieces of gear? pads and the gloves
i like to have matching kit and cant imagine many other keepers with the Ayrtek gear seen as its early days, which appeals to me id like to be different :)
-

-
